Has anybody else read the Bike article about Simon Andrews (BSB) entering fairly decent races at Oulton Park on their long-term test ER-6F and a new ZX-10R?

Interesting stuff and goes to show that

a) some modern road bikes are good
b) The quality of the rider makes a big difference, despite pub talk about bhp, torque and Ohlins.

His results on the stock bikes were surprising, as I'd expected that top club racers on modified bikes would be fairly good. Other BSB riders were taking part too apparently.

Club level and BSB level are poles apart.

A BSB rider on a crap bike will shit all over a club racer on a great bike.

It's all about the ride, the rider makes so much of a difference.
