Afternoon all.

I purchased a 1pc suit from the net and just after some info on the manufacturer.

I'm guessing it's from the 80's going by the Adam Ant inspired white band on the front and back lol.

It's made by Kett of England and if you search for it on here, you'll find the same suit in the for sale section from 2005 & 6. Google brings little up and this suit is in superb condition for it's age. It fits me allot more snugly than the Akito suit does too.

Any info on the brand would be helpful. Just wanna know if my £60 was a bargain or not.

I've heard of Kett. They were a big name in the 70s.

Never heard of them, but all of the google hits are pulling up vintage stuff from the 70's.

Hi

That they have knee slider velcro and the style of stitching at the shoulders I would suspect they are at least 1990s.

All the best

Ahh, that makes sense. The company must've gone bust or something then. Strange how Google brings little up on them.

My father knows them, because they were very active in the 60's - 80's based in Northamptonshire and popular with the guys with cafe racers then. Kett were a high quality British manufacturer in the Lewis Leathers and Belstaff heyday era. They closed down quite some time ago - maybe 10-20 years ago? Back in those days, companies just 'wound down' when they weren't selling enough. Frank Thomas are still going...but then...look at the quality of their sh.. errr......stuff!

You can prob. find a lot of their stuff s/h and will be amazed at the grade of leather they used - sometimes decent 1.2-1.4mm leather. The problem is, race technology has evolved a lot. None of their stuff will have the level of Keprotec/CE Knox Armour/speed humps and abrasion pads as the modern stuff. The leather will probably have aged and if dried out, will be more prone to rip or tear with a spill.

Having said that, they were very good for their time.

It's a shame a lot of the British manufacturing industries have collapsed Sad

I like to keep myself regular you know Wink

Seriously.....I live with 4 other people who are trying to get each other to eat more fruit.........my family Embarassed

Tried that suit on with my coldkillers and back protector. It is sorta tightish, edging on talking like Joe Pasquale.... Mr. Green

The leather is quite supple and I have treated it. For some reason, the foam back protector is sewn into the lining which hinders my seperate back protector which gives my back more support.

I know I have put on a little weight since stopping my Kickboxing which won't help either but it seems to me that at some point, this suit has been altered as it is totally different to the other one. That big of a difference in the same size surely must not be right.

It is tight on the thighs, groin area, behind and ahem stomach.... Embarassed

The Akito one fits perfectly and edges on the slightly looser side and it is the same size.

Remember the leather stretches the more you wear it...

maybe the previous owner of the kett leathers was a skinny runt?
