i plan to visit a friend soon who lives 300 miles away from me, on my cg125, the top speed is about 65/70, so whats a fine speed to cruise at without messing up the engine? cheers!

I have done 400km in a day on 125 scooters before. As long as your not flat out all the way you shouldn't have any problems. Make sure you have RAC/AA cover though.

is flat out when i have the throttle all the way open? i often find i open it up all the way to reach top speed then when im there i can ease off a bit and it stays at that speed

Yeah, flat out is when the throttle is right open and the engine is revving high, you should be alright easing off just a little bit once you reach cruising speed. I wouldn't worry about it, just go and let the bike do the rest, its not easy to blow a CG's engine up Very Happy .

I once did a 100 mile round trip on my 50cc ped, restricted to 30 mph Smile

This was before I got my bike. I still have the ped, never broken down.

I did a 300 mile round trip on my old CG most of it on the M1, sat at around 60 in the inside lane, didn't do it any harm. Pissed it down most of the way home, stopped a couple of times to dry my gloves. Aren't hand dryers in motorway service stations a great invention!
