You`ll probably get more specific advice if you ask on:
www.apriliaforum.com
I`ve got an 07.Not had to fix anything major on it but i know the parts are quite expensive.May be a bit cheaper for the older ones though coz there`s loads in the breakers and stripped down on ebay etc.
Great bikes though |

The rotax lump is an absolute peach and won't ever let you down as long as you look after it. As mentioned the electrics are where the problems will come in. I'd be a little worried about buying one that's gone over though, make sure you check the radiators and fans very carefully as they don't make very good crash bungs ____________________ 2010 Triumph 1050 Sprint ST |

+1 to it reseting the shift light to 6k, rather than not revving past it.
It defaults to a 6k shift light as that's the running in max rpm, however you can still rev past it.
On what to look out for, starting system gets a hard time on them, and the little nuts and bolts corrode. Also check all the buttons on the clocks work, and water ingress into the clocks is also not unheard of.
The motor is very reliable, however some people overfill them with oil accidently, as they have a dry sump motor, so the oil level needs to be check differently to a wet sump motor. ____________________ My Flickr |

If you can get it for 1k then it's worth it as evening if you break it for spares it's worth that. ____________________ My Flickr |

Is there not a forum online, where you can go and have a nosey at what is written, see what they suggest you look out for etc.?
Those sorts of places are usually a superb source of information about specific bikes (especially if you don't have friends who can give you the run down).
Most of these places you don't have to join to read what's written (like BCF), find out what you wanna know and then come back! ____________________ Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter won't mind - Dr. Seuss |
