Was actually reading up on this stuff today since i now have a bike shiny enough to warrant it.

Apparrently they do bike kits too. Could be worth a call. ____________________ Harold_Shand wrote: I suppose it's like anything, you get your fingers burned when you start out, you learn from it and eventually become a complete arsehole about the whole thing. |

Salt and pepper was quite good today...
I've got some Ventureshield on my NC30, bloody expensive for what it is though. Not tested to any great length, but my bike's still unblemished for the couple of hundred miles I did on it earlier in the year.
I got a touch up paint, colour matched for my R6 last year. Didn't do much preparation, but you'd have to look close to see the blob of paint - at very close inspection it looked a little like a picked scab...but better than how it was.

I have this stuff on my tank.
Seems to work well for protecting against my legs and buttons at least. |

Personally I have salt & vinegar, but the east coast of Scotland always offer you salt & sauce, WTF is that all about!
IMO sauce (red or brown) is in the same class of condiment as, gravy, curry sauce, mushy peas or a pickle
I've got a protective film (Defendall) on my 1098, it covers the nose, contact patches on the tank, the leading edges of the fairings and on the tail piece. Seems to be standing up to most chips s far
Only thing I dont like about it is that any polish you use seems to get under the edges of it and can leave a very faint outline. Other than that it is very hard to see where it is applied ____________________ Current; 10' Aprilia Dorsoduro 750.

Found a pic:
You can kinda see the line at the side of the headlight. I managed to get it out with a decent polish and carnauba wax

Other thing is keep t-cut or other similar products as it can change the colour of the film, red is known to go a kinda yellow. ____________________ Current; 10' Aprilia Dorsoduro 750.

Put a dab of grease on them from time to time so the rust doesn't spread too much. Ah, the joys of having a tatty old wreck |

My bike looks OK...but it does have a few scratches and chips. Not that I'd sell it, so it doesn't really matter |

My bikes done 800 miles, its got stone chips all over the front of it, a scratch on one of the fairings which I have no idea where it came from, and another scratch on the top of the tank. A body shop guy I know said he will try his best to fill them in, laquer them and then buff over it so you can't tell.
Im definetly going to get some of that clear film when its all been done, I nearly cried when I saw all the marks |
