I go for start of december if I can hold off the big kid in this house that is my boyfriend who demands end of November Rolling Eyes

I get sick of it after a while to. Come boxing day and I am near throwing up looking at it.

I wait until 2 weeks before Christmas as the earliest it goes up and if I get fed up of it, it will be down new year's day.

First week of December but only because we have a really high quality black tree with silver tinsel and blue LEDs, cooler than penguin piss (as fas as christmas trees go).

Cheers

Goes up the week before christmas and comes down day after boxing day. I love christmas but having the decorations up to long takes some of the magic out of it for me, possibly because we always used to put the tree up on christmas eve when I was little.

If we bother, it's sometime around the 20th, then comes down again 1st week in Jan. It's bad enough with adverts and shops starting the push in October; the longer I can keep the spendfest out of the house, the better.

My tree is an 8ft massive thing and it takes up a cornor, dosnt cost me anything to put it up like monkeypie Shocked all decs there for years. My brother was a xmas fanatic, so its all his stuff and he cant fit it into his house as its to small so I get to keep it Mr. Green

I grow very sick of it though, I hate the stupid LED lights on it, and it dosnt suit my decor having multi coloured dim led lights. I wanted something that requies sunglasses to look at and no other lights need be on in the room.

Ideally it's after Bonfire night.
Like it to be up by the start of December, say minimum of 3 weeks before d-day.

Have cut down on the other decorations though, streamers and the like.
Now it has to be tasteful and colour coordinated (you can tell there's a woman involved Very Happy).

Have to watch out what decorations we use as with 4 cats a tree is a plaything.
The other year one of them took to sleeping in it.
Couldn't get a decent picture though, black cat in black tree didn't go well (like I said, colour coordination Wink)

One question: Do you put the outside lights up at the same time as the tree? Confused Or outside lights a bit chav and council estate? (chance for the snobs on the forum to reply) Having said that I only put up the icicle style ones round the gutter.

Thumbs Up

No I dont put lights outside,I have an attic full of them my brother owns and he is banned from putting them in parents house. people used to come and look at my house covered in lights(parents house is my house now) , very embarassing. If I find a pic I will post it.

Not sure when the tree goes up, I can't remember. I know it's up for longer than I'd like. Although black tree with silver dec's matches the bike I 'spose. Laughing

If I had my way, it'd go up Christmas eve and come down boxing day. And even that might be a day too long. Laughing

My hatred of all things christmassy is well documented. I haven't put a tree up for years, at best there might be a card somewhere from some misguided soul who doesn't fully appreciate the ire I feel for this time of year.

I understand for some 'tis a time for family and much merry-making. For me and mine it's just a shit excuse to get together for an incredibly awkward meal where cards and gifts are exchanged with what is at worst, poorly concealed ill-feeling or at best, willfully unconvincing displays of good cheer.

Why for example people feel the need to send cards to individuals they wouldn't normally piss on if they were on fire just because it's the birthday of the son of a fake deity they probably don't believe in is beyond my understanding. Also, this war of xmas card attrition that goes on where someone sends you an entirely unsolicited christmas card then gets offended when you don't send one back. Fuck off, I never asked you send me one in the first place!

My version of a christmas card's internal message would read something along the lines of: Wishing you all the best, even although I couldn't give a flying fuck now or at any other time of the year.

If you have kids, then fair enough though...

Wink

PS: Someone in the office has strung christmas lights along their desk, I'm going to wait till everyone has gone home then render them useless.

**Edit: The lights too...**

I SOOOOOO enjoyed reading that.I`ve often wondered if there was something wrong with me for thinking the same way as you...but atleast now i know i`m not totally alone Laughing
I put a tree up and stuff but only because the missus is a big kid at heart and loves getting into the xmas spirit. If i wasnt with her i wouldnt even bother.....and i probably wouldnt even bother making xmas dinner either.
Defintely agree with doing it for kids if you have them but aside from that i despise xmas. It`s a farce,it`s completely fake, and it lost it`s true meaning decades ago.

As for our tree...it`ll go up when the missus mentions it or it wont if she doesn`t Wink

Yep and then he can be the one to tell all the kids at school. That way he won't end up with underlying phsychological issues relating to lieing bastard parents. Thumbs Up

Liar.

You wouldn't expect a joint United States & Canadian military organisation, part of the US homeland defence, to waste money on a fictional character would you? Wink

Our xmas tree goes up about a week or two before christmas, but I am not allowed to help, my sister is very protective over how it's done, no idea why because it's still all the tacky decorations we had when we were little! I used to help put up the ex's tree, that was fun.

Im not bothered by xmas, it's gonna be pretty crap this year so I really am not bothered about the decorations etc! I do think all the christmas advertising starting now is way too over the top, but I suppose they have to make money somehow!

Fuck no! I already have to fork over my hard earned cash to large faceless corporations. Why would i spend another shitload of a plastic tree and some coloured light bulbs?

Personally I never ask for anything at Christmas anymore, and insist that if anyone wishes to make a gesture towards me at Xmas, that they instead direct it towards a local charity. I'd rather have a day with my family, friends, and Jack (Boyfriend) than have presents to unwrap.
