Yamaha TZR 125 4HW Restoration, Open to any advice.

Hi all, this is my first day on this blog site.

I just baught a TZR 125 that has seen better days, I finaly got it to work today but found a crack in the piston caseing, (top end) not sure of the correct phrase lol,

Just wondering if it can be welded or not. and why this has happened in the first place? I was thinking of putting a bore kit on the bike too but havent got a clue where to find one or even what to look for?

Any advice would be great. As you can see I am a complete novice at this.

Hi

Most likely cause of a cracked barrel is someone leaving it over winter with just water in rather than a water / antifreeze mix.

Nice one Keith, Will bare this in mind for next winter for when i come to storing it.

I am still looking for a bore kit for this. Dont suppose you know anyware? when i first started the bike it just started pissing water everyware. Took around 2 hours to start too. starts first time now though.

Don't think there was an aftermarket bore kit available for these, the TZM150 (designed and released for the asian market) may fit.

Lovely bikes the 4HW though, don't see many about anymore.

Thanks guys for that, yeah i heared they are pretty rare now, i didnt no if he was just telling me that tho, lol.

I am going to get it all resprayed by a pro and get all the transfers put back on.

I mite go to one of these shows that Keith was on about.
