Fastest 33bhp Bike?? 125cc-600cc fastest!

whats the fastest 33bhp bike that you know of, restricted or standad like the aprilia rs125 33bhp would that be the fastest at 110mph? i have heard that it goes 120mph but i dont think there speedos are correct.
Any help much apreciated.

I guess power to weight play a large part in this.

Whats the lightest bike with 33bhp and some torque? Restricting a heavier 600cc/1000cc surely can't be as quick as a lighter 33bhp 250cc?

Or am I wrong? Interesting one this? Does the increased torque of the bigger motor and type of restriction used play a bigger part?

FYI; NSL is 70mph.
Ask a friend to let you jump behind his bike. When he hits 120 you will understand how stupid/ridiculous that speed is.
I hope you change your mind after this experience.

Does it matter, you can only go 70 anyway!

For what it's worth, my 33bhp cbr400rr will do 120mph with a backwind downhill on a good day (on private roads of course)

thanks for the help :) yeah well its got to be a aprilia rs125 or the 250 for me :) i like two strokes there so much faster at the same cc as a 4 stroke just cost abit more... well alot more...

aprilia rs125 33bhp = up to 120mph,
to be honist i think thats fast enough for me :)
i couldnt imagen how slow a 600cc bike restricted to 33bhp would be lol probs go like 80mph-90mph lol!
yeah i racing on quiet road where 1 car goes every 2days and at night i dont see anything there... about a 1.4mile strait to play with, no cameras :) yayayay!!!!

400cc's are nice but there to hard to get like on ebay and in the showrooms its very expencive and im not a millionare...

Calyx, true the NSL is 70, however in a straight line those speeds are very reasonable in the correct conditions. and the OP didnt ask that, at all Wink

dom141. Absolute bollocks. You can easily go more than 70mph Wink

Furthermore, i expect a bike similar to an nsr250 or similar to be the fastest and quickest at 33bhp as it wont be restricted as heavily as a 600/1000 and its very light, however it very much depends on the restriction as a throttle stop wont damage 0-60 THAT much. On the other hand, although it may be slow a hayabusa at 33bhp will still likely do 130-140 maybe even 150mph+.

33bhp is 33bhp whether it be 2 or 4 stroke. Rolling Eyes

Also i think the RS125 is too light to be ridden on a restricted licence.

Technically true, but if they used measured weights rather than claimed weights, it'll be more like 26ish bhp and fully fuelled, about 140-150ish kg? Going by that it's legal. I can't remember what the power to weight ratio was, something like 0.26bhp/kg? Somebody verify this for me.

You'll get something like 90mph out of an RS125 once it gets there. 120mph at steady state doesn't "FEEL" fast. Getting to 120mph in about 6-7 seconds is what makes it feel fast. The only thing you notice when you're riding quicker is that the rate of change of scenery is a lot higher... that and a few other things.

If I were you, I'd get a light 125 33bhp bike and maintain momentum through the corners. A guy on a Mito 125 and supercorsas was very consistent through the local roads in the east midlands since he just maintained his speed. The light bike made it very flickable compared to say a restricted 400/600.

A rs 125 will never hit 120 without some major tuning and fettleing.

A 6 at 33bph will hit over 100 without too much trouble. But, if you are really worried about top speed, just get a derestricted bike...

An NSR250 would hate being restricted because all the power is at the top end which it wouldn't be able to get to.

I would imagine that a restricted 400+ would produce close to 33bhp for more of it's rev range than a 125 that peaks at 33bhp.

i would say any 400 would be the better one to choose from as its got a better rev range then 125-250s and will still have the power at 33bhp rather than a claimed 33 from the rs125

Hi

33hp is enough for around 105mph.

RS125 doesn't make 33hp. 120mph would need about 45hp, and not a hope of getting that from an RS125.

Weight affects acceleration but makes virtually no difference to top speed. Certainly not the small difference in weight between a 125 and a 600.

You should also look for one with a red powerband because they go a bit faster.

Sometimes its worth getting one that has restrictors held on by sticky tape so you have a good excuse when they 'fall out'.

The black powerbands displace more torque.

Dont get me started on those rainbow coloured ones...

I expect it's his attitude of wanting a bike purely based on it's top speed. No questions about how it is to get to school/shops/work, how it handles, fuel economy.

Eh, it would only need to get to 33hp, which would be exactly the same as 33hp on another bike.
The reason, I'd say, a 'revvy' 250 2 stroke feels like it if anything has less low-down power than a 125 2 stroke is not because it doesn't have much. If you just use the low revs, it's surprisingly usable (before you hit the powerband you're probably making the peak power of the 125). The issue is that when the power comes in, the big kick makes the rest feel a lot smaller.

The two important things when considering '33hp' bikes is actually making 33hp (not making 26hp, say) and having the right gearing. A hayabusa making 33hp still geared for 200mph is going to seriously suffer as far as torque at the back wheel goes in top gear.

If I wanted the absolute fastest 33hp bike with no weight limit that money could buy I would put a 200cc KTM engine in a GP 125 chassis, restrict it to 33hp and make sure I knew how to use the clutch. I would like to do this anyway (without the restriction), but only as a 'sixth' bike, not as my main bike Smile.

Just had a quick play with the rear wheel thrust program, putting in a 'busas gearing but with 25kW (33hp) everywhere from 2400rpm upwards (ie, it can manage 25kW by those rpm, but just an artificial graph as though it just sat there).

Looks like it would manage about 110mph, but to keep 33hp the torque would have to drop off rapidly. Gearing would make no difference to top speed. Changing down would just mean that you had more revs, but less torque to keep the power the same.

Would be really weird to ride.
