IIRC there was an article in MCN where they said the certificate doesnt hold any value when it comes to insurance companies or the police and restrictor kits can be anything, as long as the bike is restricted its legal.
will try and find the article.

I published a website specifically addressing the restrictor issue:
https://blackmotorcycle.webs.com
The upshot is, it depends on your insurance company as they can be funny buggers about it and if they are awkward then you're uninsured (which is an offense in itself - so will be bent over by the police), but as far as offense of riding over 33bhp - (i.e. riding a bike you're not licensed to ride), you don't need diddly squat to prove it's restricted.
Innocent until proven guilty. ____________________ -- Ingah |

I have come across a site that sells restrictor kits at a more reasonable price.
I bought a kit frm there as I passed my A2 last year and didn't want to fork out £250 to have a kit fitted to my bike and they were very helpful.
It is https://www.cheap33bhprestrictorkits.com |

Sorry man didn't think I was spamming the forum, just passing on some info on the cheapest supplier I have come accross so far
After looking hard late last year I found https://www.fiinternational.com charge £175 to supply the kit to a dealer only. I was quoted £250 just to have a kit fitted, which was way out of my league at the time after paying for bike and test.
The difference works out at a fair amount of petrol or beer vouchers whichever way you look at it.
If anyone finds cheaper I'll eat my words |
