Hey all -- looking to get some practice on a 125cc for my MOD 1 retake (Failed due to not getting to the speed on a CG125 for the emergency stop & avoidence)

First off;
Aprilia RS125 - Not looking to be blown up with the bike
CG125 - Want to get the speed for my MOD 1, not failing that again

Been looking at the NSR125, love the YZF but nearest is 45miles away and there expensive 4 strokes -- even used is around 2500 min.

Missed anything? Looking for a reliable, reasonable price bike but with a good bit of power (4strokes still welcome)

First off its not really a good idea just to buy another bike just to do the mod 1, especially as its only £15. If your doing mod 1, shows that your doing your tests soon so will be getting a bigger bike soon anyway.

And secondly, i did the mod 1 on a CG and passed first time. Needed both attempts for the avoidance but thats cause i didnt wanna go too fast. Got 49, 51, 51.
You just have to pin it as you come out the corner and i had to kick it into 3rd as mine bogs down at full throttle. Got through it mind.

All 125's have pretty much the same power. The test wouldnt have been made if noone on a 125 could do it.

If you lean a little bit (25 degrees) at the corner you could reach 55ish km/h at the gate easily.
Don't blame poor CG. Even scooters pass that test.
Never give up, book it again and do some practice. You'll be just fine.

Don't waste your money if you're taking your test.

Just give it shit and get upto speed Laughing

As Calyx said, go into the corner bit faster. I did mod1 on a CBR125. It's really no more powerful than a CG, it just looks a bit prettier Smile

If you use an NSR I bet the figure 8 and U turns will be fun

I did CBT on a Honda CG125, i found it to be jerky through the gears, when going through the cones it nearly made me give up!
I own a Kymco pulsar 125, only got it after CBT, it's smooth and responsive and everything a CG should be, and i'm 18 stone, got it up to 65 and it still wanted to go faster

Yeah, but I want to save some money also as the hire of the bike costs £130 (With training) a day, whilst i could buy a 125 and practice for abit and get to know the bike more, then redo it Smile then it'll come in handy for the MOD2.

If you couldn't get up to speed on a CG125 then it was either fucked or you weren't riding it right. Up to about 30mph they should be very lively.

For my money they are the best learner bike on the secondhand market, but I would say that as I had two.
