Just had to chase mine down the road shouting "Oi, mate". Second time this is happened. I heard to door go so I went downstairs and got the mail. He's only given be the mail for 79 and 83 and I am 81. Not impressed. Especially when we've had some important post go missing recently.

A postie lives next door to me. He runs an illegal car sales business from a street with parking problems and had 8 cops take him away (on I assume unrelated issues) last week. By extrapolation, I can tell you that all posties are scummers.

My postman often gets confused and delivers my neighboughs post to my number 165A and my post to 165.

It cant be that difficult can it? This happens most days and both houses are very clearly marked.

Thinking about writing a nice letter to him although it will probably make things worse Laughing

If I'm in the house when the postie comes I wait for the mail to pop through the letterbox and then quickly rifle through it to check the addresses. A few times I've had to give him back letters addressed for Broomhill Estate, instead of Terrace. Lately we haven't had many problems so I don't think all posties are useless g*ts but I can't understand why they can't just read the address.

Our main postie is a top bloke. He's always got a smile and wave for us and always gets the post to the right houses. If we can't get to the door straight away for bigger packages we'll wave to him from inside and he'll leave them nearby out of sight. Thumbs Up

However the parcel delivery van drivers are utter idiots, even once when I was standing next to the front door (inside) the woman shoved a collection note through the door without knocking or using the bell - they've had a few complaints from us on that score by now! Rolling Eyes

My street is basically a loop that goes back onto the 'main' road. Although it's really 1 road, its classed as 3.

Either end there are streets that are 20 yards long with my street connecting the 2 (no junctions, just 90 degree bends). We are number 1 and often get post for No1 for the little street right at the far end of the street. Bear in mind these roads have TOTALLY different names and there is even a road name sign on the front of my house Rolling Eyes

It only seemed to happen when our usual postie was on holiday or something.

On a side note, how many times have you seen a postie riding around on a moped with his bag over his shoulder Laughing Saw one the other day, found it quite amusing.

I was talking to a postman in a pub not so long ago. He was talking about when they are going on strike and why.

It seems to me they get treat like crap. Hes not on very good pay, yet he has to bike round rough estates and has to put up with yoofs nicking his bike, pushing it over for unknown reasons and he gets abuse hurled at him if he gets a letter wrong. It's quite a tiring job and then you get all that crap.

I know I wouldn't be doing that job.

Id like you to say that to my face sunshine Smile

Basically ill explain it like this, most rounds have a regular postman, that postman will deliver to 350-450 houses / flats on that round.
Each house gets around 3-4 letters or magazines, more if there are shops on it.
Its VERY easy to miss-sort a letter, on average ill do 3-4 per day, of course most of the time you spot these mistakes before you get to the door, sometimes you dont get it right, for me its still over 99.5% perfect everyday.

You will get mistakes more often when your usuall postman is off sick or on holiday and you have someone new or someone who is doing it on overtime, its just basic human error.

Some of the mistakes are more preventable and do require attention, although everybody in the job makes these kind of mistakes, and it ALWAYS will happen unless royal mail begin to hire robots to deliver it.

IMO, the job looks easy but i would bet alot of you couldnt hack it, if it wasnt for the good money i would have left after week 1.

Lets not forget that time needed to sort post is one of the reasons the strikes are happening.

That has been PO policy (illegal) for quite a while. It saves the PO the expense of delivering the parcel and forces you to do their job for them by going to pick it up. It was on BBC Watchdog at least once.

Another PO scam is them charging you for taking incoming international parcels to customs & excise, something that is legally already covered by the postage fee.

The PO is a criminal organization, just like the DVLA and customs & excise, that get away with financial murder.

Not quite. The problem is lack of drivers. Each driver on a post code round can be given up to 150 drops to do in an 8 hour time scale so that's an average of 18.75 an hour or one drop every 3.2 minutes. You try it, it's hard.

Unless you can show legislation to back this up you are wrong I'm afraid.

No, the postmen are as much victims as the consumers. It's the vermin at the top who need to be brought down.

As for the customs & excise scam, as I understand it all countries have a reciprocal arrangement, that the postage put on the item gets it to the door. But not in the good old UK, oh no. We're special here, as always. Always got to be another theiving bite taken out of our tick-ridden financial hide.

If it wasn't illegal, why didn't the PO take me to court when I snatched a parcel from the postie and told him to tell his bosses to "Fvck off and take me to court"?

It's extortion, plain and simple, and if there's not already legislation covering it there needs to be. But don't hold your breath waiting for it, something of actual use that prevents criminal fraudsters like the PO from blatantly criminal activity. The govt's too busy banning Samurai swords to do something that would actually cost it money (lost revenue from PO scams).

Just another example of why this country is a leeching toilet.

The Postmen that deliver here are brilliant - always friendly, always on time and I can't fault them at all. I missed a 'sign for' parcel and had a slip to collect it, next day there was another 'sign for' parcel so they put them together just in case I was out again and to prevent me having to go down collect twice.

Once the delivery drivers had my address located (it's a difficult one to find even with satnav) they have been brilliant too. If I leave a note out for them they will leave for me if I'm out and not make me go and collect. Always pleasant and smiley.

I guess buying stuff online would lose it's appeal if I had problems with delivery but as it is I am more than happy to buy online as it really is 'simples' Mr. Green

We used to have a lovely postman on our route, Jim his name was he was pleasant, polite, walked down the path not across your lawn, called again later if he knew you were out, left the parcel at your neighbours etc... did all the decent common sense things that human beings in past decades used to understand as accepted practice.

They transferred him...

Now we might get post, when we do I know they've been, they've either wrecked my letter box, or left me a note saying they "attempted delivery" (2:14 onwards), there's a trench across my lawn where they walk, my daughter's get their books from amazon after they someone at the post has read them, I could go on...

Suffice to say I have everything delivered to work now, and download all my statements, bills etc... If the aim was to lose business and grind a public service in to the ground I reckon Adam Crozier/CWU have done it!

My postman's a lovely chap, never gets the house wrong and always stays to chat to my girlfriend if I'm leaving for work (once even saw him go inside to get out of the cold for a cup of tea or something). It's good to have such a friendly neighbourhood postman. Thumbs Up

My postie recently broke my letter box so, not too happy with him. Had to go and get 2 quotes for the cost of the repair and RM will send a cheque for the cheapest one.
