Is this allowed?

I thought that they had to have their feet on footpegs, but as a moped doesn't have these is it alright for them to just sit on the back?

This is in order to keep the little boy happy, as I'd promised to take him on my bike, but that's not going to happen for a while.

it's legal if you have a full 'ped licence and also, IIRC, a full car licence and you're running a 'ped

So long as you are not on L plates and you bike can accomodate 2 then it should be fine.

Foot pegs, and hand holds are verymuch helpful, not sure if they are required by law though.

I think you have to have footrests..

I remember the instuctor saying...

"astride the bike, feet on footrests, facing foreward, CE approved bike helmet"

with your licences you can take pillions no problem...

If I recall correctly.

If the moped has 2 seats and you have a full licence then you can.

You have to have pillion pegs in order to take a pillion!

Yes obviously.

That's implied by having 2 seats though.

Does it have a place/pegs for a pillion's feet?

Most do, even if it's just a little cut out in the bodywork where the pillion feet can go.

I dont know the answer but to throw one more thing into the sway...do you need insurance for a pillion to be allowed on the back....or is that just for peace of mind of the passanger as it were...? if not why do they ask if you want a pillion?

Thats why they ask you.
If you were in a crash with a pillion on the back and you didn't add it to your cover and they were seriously injured, you'd be in court for damages up to your neck.

You can't legally carry a pillion on that moped I'm afraid...

Ooh, a real beast!

Like yours, my old ped doesn't have pegs, However it did have bits where the floor of the ped came around the seat a little, and we found that sort of usefulll as foot rests. Most of the time when I was carrying pillion (round Devons country lanes, on L plates) the passenger sat right back resting there feet on kickstart shaft bit / exhaust (and yes, someone did manage to melt their trainers on it). Carrying people on the main road or town on that thing would have been out of the question, even If I had a full license due to the shear uncomforatbleness and lack of room, not to mention how stupid it looked Laughing.

Cheers Jonathan

Hmmm, the floor on that ped looks like it has the pillion things right in the corners like on my MBK Stunt when I had it.
