Very pleased to complete CBT today with the fantastic guys at Ridesure at Dunsfold Aerodrome. You certainly get your money's worth - started at 8.30 and didn't finish until nearly 5, with the last hour of the road ride in the dark!

My other half did hers last weekend and we already picked up a nice little Beta Alp 125 as our 'learner' bike - unfortunately my 1975 TY250 is considered too powerful to ride with L plates, despite only managing about 40mph in top!

We're planning on riding the 125 for a while and then signing up for DAS when we feel confident enough for it - really looking forward to being able to ride on the road now, and the Beta should be fine for a bit of laning too.

Just had a look at your new bike, you thinking of changing the stock tyres?

Hi Pat -

It's currently got dual purpose tyres on, which should be ok for road plus a bit of laning - or so I'm told by people who know about such things. We live out in the sticks and frankly, half the roads round here you are probably better off with knobblies in the winter with the amount of mud and leaf litter on them!

^^Fair do. I remember doing the CBT on my XL125 with newish knobblies...wasn't the easiest of rides and i eventually got some Michelin Siracs.

Having ridden it a bit now I'm a little worried about the rear tyre. It has Bridgestone Trailwings and the rear feels a little unstable under cornering compared to the YBR 125 I had for my CBT.

Could this be due to the tyres? As I initiate the turn it just feels like the rear jumps a little bit. Is this normal on this kind of bike?

I had trailwings on my Varadero 125 and found them less than confidence inspiring, changed them and no more feeling of front sliding or rear skipping. I have heard mention of them being nick named death wings but I have also spoke to people who use them and are quite happy. If your not happy with them change them as if your worried about them your going to be nervous on your bike no matter what, its all a confidence thing I think.

@nstrug: Before we blame the tyre make sure it's upto pressure
and make sure your pre-load is correct for your bodyweight.
And give it a tryout on dry roads.
Hang around and maybe someone who has the same bike can tell
you how they normally handle..you may have to pick through the insults Smile It is BCF remember.
