Just a thought: In a hundred years we'll probably have the technology to go to at least one other planet with ease. We could dump a lot of shit on that planet unless we want to live on it. Radioactive waste, carbon etc, but I'll bet my ass that some group will form to "save the solar system" blah blah.
Anyone ever thought about this?

Blimey, it took a mind-bending hallucinogen for you to see that? Marg is shit, butter is everything. One thing i hate to see is the term 'real butter' - WTF is that all about?? It's either butter, and therefore real, or it's not butter, and therefore.....unreal? Confused

Last time i took acid i got held hostage in my friend's bathroom for 45 minutes by their cream coloured hand towels - the more i looked at them, the more convinced i became that they were actually Labrador puppies, and if i turned my back on them they would savagely attack me in a very un-andrex puppy fashion. Once they started to breathe, i knew i had to get out, and plucked up the courage to make a daring dash past them to freedom.

After that, the night started to get really weird.........

Why bother dumping it on a planet, just launch it off into space with enough velocity to leave the solar system and it's no longer our problem. Yeah it may eventually hit a planet populated with wonderful life and shower it with radioactive fallout but what you don't know doesn't hurt you.

Mass launchers aren't entirely improbable.
Just think: we could find some way of condensing all of the materal into a single cohesive lump, and then fire it out of some motherhuge railgun at the nearest star...

i think 1 in 3 launches dont work...
we could also find a way to make clean energy as well. not probable but ya know as long as i say 'we could' we can ignore the small questions like how.
idiot.

Could the moon not be used as the counter weight?

EDIT: Thinking about it for one minute made me realise that that would probably end up with the moon wrapping the cables around the earth several times and hurting people. Never mind.

I doubt we will be as far advanced space wise as people think in 100 years. There is currently 0 money in space exploration. Untill resources are so streched that we need to go into space to get mine hydrogen, and or metals or overcrowding/war/polution/climate drive us of earth.

I thought the 'mercans were putting money into it again, so as not to lose face to the Russians, or has Obama redirected it to patching up the trouble Bush caused, rather than the American ego?

They'll probably keep the shuttle going a while longer so as not to rely on the Russians.

I don't see anyone (except maybe the Chinese) going to the moon in the next decade or so.

Didn't Arthur C Clarke say something along the lines of '50 years after they stop laughing, it'll happen'?

Dump them in a Tokamak reactor. It's not 100% energy efficient by a long chalk, but there's enough chavs to keep it going for a while, and it'll make pretty sparkles out of them.
