Hey

My contracts up on my mobile and I'm after a new one with a new phone.

I haven't looked at phones, no idea what I want but mobile internet would be nice something like an Iphone etc, don't really want to pay over £30 p/m.

What's the best phones out at the minute?? Help!

Orange have more minutes per month for their £30 iPhone contract too :-

O2 : £29.38 a month, 18 months, 75 mins, 125 texts, £96.89
Orange : £29.36 a month, 24 months, 150 mins, 250 texts, Free

And Orange apparently have wider 3G coverage.

iPhones are meant to be good, but people will think that you approve of Macs which is never a good thing. Shocked

Pretty impressed with my HTC Touch HD.

The Mrs has just got the HTC Hero, and it's a fantastic bit of kit.

I'm very happy with my HTC Touch Diamond2

The lack of tethering* put me off iPhones initially, but now that you can get a better phone anyway, why bother even if the latest iPhones can manage it?

* being able to connect your laptop to the internet via a bluetooth connection to the phone

The mobile world is evolving and we've moved on from smart phones to what's being tentatively termed 'app phones'. You want one of these! iphone, palm pre of HTC hero are the biggest names.

I'm a general mac hater, but I bought an ipod touch & mac mini to work with (software development). The ipod touch (iphone without the phone bit) is a great bit of kit. The HTC is also good - a friend has one. Not sure about the palm.

The thing to remember is you're no longer buying the phone for what it can do out the box, you're buying it for the app store it's connected to at the moment apple's is (unfortunately) the best so my recommendation would be to get the iphone.

Not really what your looking for (cause of the price)

but i managed to snag a HTC Touch 2 from T-Mobile with the Flext 40 (£40 per month, you get £225p/m of credit from it)
even managed to get unlimited free internet in with it (usually you pay £5 extra, even though it says on the contract unlimited internet usage) although you have a 1GB download limit on it (but, who seriously downloads on there phone?)

not too bad if you have the cash spare, was talking to a few people from college and they said they were paying £30 for a sim only contract w/ 100 mins + 500 txt's from orange. (they think it was the raccoon one, but wasn't sure.)

either way, look around, say your considering changing networks and see what you can get thrown in for free Thumbs Up
