Finally some proper biking weather, been waiting all year for this

Weather Warning wrote:

There is a moderate risk of severe weather affecting many western parts of Britain from Wednesday through to Friday. During this period very wet and windy conditions are expected at times with widespread rain and strong to gale force winds gusting 60 MPH. Rain will be heavy at times, especially over windward hills and mountains. Rainfall accumulations of 30 to 50mm are expected through the whole period with locally 60 to 80mm over higher ground.

If you survive the ride to work the wind will tip it in the carpark. I am in the van.

Bloody hell, I wouldn't go that far! Wink

The only thing I really can't abide is ice, but you'd not be safe even in a car on that.

It's still mild. I've not had a bike go over yet this year, but I lost a cover the other day. Up it went like a kite, never to be seen again. Fortunately it was only a cheap vinyl one Laughing

Pussies, I rode to work in the blizzard last year.

This was the bike about an hour or 2 after getting in.

Theres a section of road on the A38 where I've had the back end blown out before!!

It was terrifying, also the part where I was being blow across the carriageway and not able to stop being pushed over. I had to slow down to about 10mph it was that bad.

The worst times on a bike have all been high wind....

As did I - 30 miles. Scariest day on the roads of my life and nobody else was at work so I went home an hour later. 'Twas fun using my feet to keep the bike upright as the wheels slipped and slid all over the place! Rolling Eyes Embarassed

The wind this morning was annoying but manageable. Struggled to get 45 out of the YBR in some places. Crying or Very sad

60mph winds today as I was travelling up the A2 and M2. Would have been bloody dangerous on a single carriageway road. Even the white van drivers were crawling along (at about 90 Laughing ). Saw a juggernaut getting perilously shaken about at one point. Driver must have been either brave or insane, as he was sat up there, one elbow on the windowsill, smoking a fag like it was the middle of July Shocked

Pretty much the same for me except the going home part.

Riding in this weather is rather fun if you have a good hack, on the RS50 last year I had to ride into College with ice, black ice and snow etc on the roads.

You know it's bad when you power on in a corner and an RS50 spins up the rear. Laughing.

If I wasn't currently nursing the broken legs, I'd be out riding on the Thundercat in this weather, be brave men. Thumbs Up.
