Surely this depends on where in Guildford you live as it's not exactly a small place?

ah maybe, but i thought boroughs had a general policy of motorcycle parking in resident bays. E.g. Borough of Ealing where i live it's fine, borough of westminister is a nono

I would worry a lot less outside of London for bike parking. I don't live in the centre of Reading, but often do leave my bike anywhere and everywhere without problem in Reading.
See plenty of bikes cramped up against walls on pavements and similar in Reading residents parking areas.

Yeah, I've not had a problem with my bike in that regard.

So if it is frowned upon, they haven't caught me yet! Very Happy https://www.grcade.com/images/smilies/icon_shifty.gif

I lived in Guildford for three years quite recently and know that my housemate (car owner) had a nightmare getting a permit for our street. We lived right opposite the police station on Woodbridge road, so town center really.

With regards to bikes, Im not so sure.
If i remember rightly, his car permit cost around £35.
Guildford council are a nightmare with forms et al, the best thing to do would be to go into the office personally as you'll get a better response.

The head office is just over the river, behind the Yvonne Arnaud theater.

Best of luck!!
