Think everyone has had a knock on their bikes, Or even working on your bikes, But what has to be the ones that stick out for you?

The only ones I have had up to now are a badly bruised arm when I fell off my Gilera Runner after hitting a patch of oil whilst braking when I was 16 (About 6 years ago) and a burn on my leg off a pit bike I had about 2 years ago.

Anyone got any that they would like to share? Smile

I highsided my xj600 on the campsite at donington & went face first through the screen. I had a graze across my forehead that matched the contour of the screen, a broken nose and a swollen mouth.

Although I have done all the broken bones stuff, the one that really sticks out in my mind is one of my first. 3mph turning on gravel front end goes and I land on my knee. 3 hours in hospital and many stitches in my knee later I went home. Not a scratch on the bike as I saved it when I put my knee down on the gravel.
26 years later, I still think about it whan moving the bike around at slow speeds.

Before I did my CBT my boyfriend let me have a ride on his bandit, he picked a gravelly uphill carpark with potholes to have a go on. Needless to say when I went round a corner (slowly) the front wheel hit some gravel and the whole bike went over. I bruised the whole of my leg from ankle to knee, that sucker is heavy!

Touch wood thats the worst I will experience for a while.

Broke my collar bone while riding a dangerously scary beast (Tomos moped) after colliding with someone on a similarly fearsome bike (Honda Express) while riding round the local dirt tracks when I was 15. Not yet broken bones while riding on the road.

Walked away from three or four fairly high speed get offs in my youngers days but haven't been down the road for a few years now. I'm due for a big accident and am expecting it to arrive any day Shocked

One of the nastiest bike-related injuries I ever suffered was a burnt cheek off a C90 exhaust. I'd got down to check something at the back of the heap, I think. I danced about cursing the fucking thing for a good five minutes. Still got a scar from it. I thrashed the buggery out of the bloody thing all the way home, as if it was the steppy's fault I was a gobshite Laughing

I've destroyed my fingernails far too many times wet and drying metal work before, and some degreasers leave my hands terribly dry.

I smashed my left wrist to bits after coming off a Jawa combination and being thrown down a 20ft ravine. Three days in hospital, 3 pins through my arm and six weeks in plaster. Still have 10% restricted movement in all directions in that hand and it aches in cold weather.

I also dropped my KLE on my foot due to not going fast enough over a damp wooden bridge. Had to give it a little throttle and the back end went out from under me. Footpeg landed square on my heel and broke it.

I was about 400 miles from home at the time. I didn't dare take my boot off in case it started to swell so I laced it up tight, took two ibuprofen and ,ade a beeline for home. Was limping for well over a month.

You only get man points if you didn't cry from the pain.

Although we could allow it for the damage to your bike!

Lost all the flesh off both legs from knees to ankles.
Crushed lower leg / foot / ankle.
Broken foot / broken toes / damaged achillies heel.
Twisted pelvis / impacted hip.

Torn ligament and ruptured blood-vessel in my left knee at 17, going into the front of a car on my 125. Two weeks in hospital.

Swollen spleen, coming off my first Blade at 60mph into somebody's garden. Air-ambulance overhead (nowhere to land), I left hospital three days later.

Two massive scabs on my back and a dislocated finger after being run into a vending machine on my second Blade in Japan while undertaking a car after beating the crap out of some twat in an unrelated incident (hence I was riding a bit silly and undertaking said car). I later had an op to remove a ligament from the chipped knuckle. I had a steel rod sticking out of my right hand for a month, but I still rode, coz I is 'ard, innit.

Which isn't a bad record, considering I've been riding bikes, on and off, since 1977. Fast mind, I've never been a pootler. I've had countless other offs, from which I've walked away with nothing worse than lost tissue, bruises and concussion. I think I've had more than my fair share of luck though. The garden crash, I took out a 4x4 fence post with my ribcage, which would have killed me (they said) if it hadn't been rotten. And missed the telegraph-pole by two feet.

Bike offs, I shit 'em. Laughing
