There are, of course, two things no man will admit to being bad at.
Sex and driving.
Ask any driver about the state of the roads, and we'll all say the same thing. It's getting worse. Courtesy is down, madness is up. The elderly will blame the young tearaways, the hot rod 17yo will mock the old pensioner, women will blame aggessive men, men will blame hesistant women, and so on.
Everyone is a bad driver... accept for you! In our heads, we will all claim to be above average. But this is illogical: only a few can be above average. The truth is, most road users have no end of bad habits, ride and drive mostly on luck rather than skill, and are far less able than they will admit to being.
The difference with a bike and car is a driver can coset his incompetence with technology that isn't available to most bikers (abs, etc, etc) and so feedback loops are far less apparant. On a bike, if you're doing something dangerous, you'll know about it quicker than in a car. This is why I'd suggest that riders tend to be more awake to their errors than drivers.
However, the standard of riding is still very low. In fact most riders I see on the road seem half asleep like drivers.
So this really is a post to be honest about your bad habits, things you can't do well on bikes that you should be able to do, things that you need to improve or stop doing, and so on.
For me:
1) My cornering isn't great, and I need to make gear changes smoother.
2) Sometimes, I suspect, my filtering is a bit reckless and I imagine I've (rightly) pissed off a few drivers.
3) I stop too frequently at junctions when I don't need to.
4) I try to accelerate from cars off the line ocassionally and feel a need to then keep on accelerating to silly speeds into the distance to prove how "fast" my - terribly slow - bike is. ____________________ no regrets, no retreat, no apology.
I've made mistakes in the past, and I apologise for FUCK ALL. |

I'm better at sex than riding.
But I'm better at driving than sex.
Although I currently know that my car's tyres are a bit flat and I have no idea how to pump them up. Whereas ...

I tend to ride a little too fast usually, also, I apex corners but this is forgivable as I DO race on the track so I'm used to it.

The only fault I can pick with my riding is the deep seated need to overtake anything thats in front of me. Even on the little 100 where overtaking is more about persistance and luck than skill and judgement I can't seem to happily sit behind a car for any distance.
Otherwise I'm pretty much by the book and while I wouldn't win any medals for it, I do view my riding as more than competent to survive on british roads. ____________________ And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?

I'm too busy shouting at other drivers/riders and picking holes in their abilities to notice my own faults, which are probably numerous and glaring
But caution may be my biggest fault, as I've seen horrific things happen to people who take risks and tend to take less myself as a result. |

1) Cornering needs to be improved
2) I'm not always as relaxed as I should be which dont help above
3) Mini roundabouts I need to learn to go round a wee bit quicker
4) Tend to roll off the throttle when coming to junction etc, should really brake as well.
5) Tend to stop at give way junctions rather than keep moving ready to stop.
Oh my god should I be riding with all those bad habits ____________________ Previously Known As A5tra_G

Probably don't give as much room around cars when overtaking them, as they'd like. As soon as I'm past the front bumper, I move back over. Don't think it's a big deal, because if I'm going 50mph faster, they're hardly going to hit me, are they...
Should probably adjust my headlight aim to be lower, it's not uncommon for cars to flash headlights at me Passed it's MOT fine so it should be correct. Any lower and I would lose visibility, so stuff 'em. I just show them what full beam really looks like.
That brings me onto another; road rage. Always get pissed off with other drivers and riders.
I tend to go fast on the straights and slow down more than I need to for corners, but I'm making good progress on that one
As Wiz said, if something is infront of me, I *must* pass it. I can't relax and ride at my own pace with someon infront. Same in the car, except a 1.3 Ka isn't well designed with acceleration an overtaking power in mind
Safety-wise, I'd say I'm very good. Do all my lifesavers and most of the mirror checks. Often don't check mirrors before opening it up, and often forget a lifesaver before overtaking Am usually too focussed on waiting for a gap. Although if an oncomming car has just passed, there shouldn't b anything behind me trying to overtake
It really fucks me off if I'm stuck in a line of traffic and when an overtake gap opens up, some nob infront in their 1.6 civic / focus / other non-fast car will pull out and use that gap to pass maybe 1 or 2 cars, where I could have passed the whole line of 10+ cars. ____________________

admiting riding faults eh?
I speed too much, even in built up areas (ive no problems doing 60 in a 30 zone at 3am, when I can see its clear to do so)
I get road rage very easily.
I do stupid overtakes that occasionally put my life into the hands of another road user.
I fail to understand that there is a limit to what 7 year old tyres can do, and on a fairly regular basis have stacked it because of that.
I engine brake too much, resulting in no brake light showing.
getting quite good at emergency stops now though.
Cheers

Oh yeah engine braking is good, and blipping down gears sounds awesome, but you should lightly drag a brake so the brake light comes on and alerts people behind that your slowing down, I dont do that.
probably because ive got no front brake light switch, pre '85 so I didnt need one for MOT, never got around to fitting a working one either.
Cheers

Hmm,
- Filter far to fast, prime example 70mph on the M1 for about 5miles,
- Ride far to fast,
- I get board far to easyily, and end up messing around.
- On the 650, I find it near impossible to stay behind cars, which caused me to do 132mph with only one bar,
- I like to scare myself,
- I corner far to fast, then next time I go round it at a much lower speed i.e 100 then 60, I bearly make it because it is to fast,
I think it is mainly because i'm young, dumb and full of cum.
