So - got my Module 1 next weekend, and was intending on doing it on the ZZR6, only problem is that the i've only actually ridden the ZZR round the block and on short blasts out when the wife's been out so i dont get shouted at for riding it whilst only on a CBT (i know, i know - it's wrong, what if i hit someone etc... i know - was stupid!)

Got my Dad to ride it down to my work today so i could practice all the slow speed bit's in teh car park - had downloaded a plan of the test course, set out a few cones... and was on my way...

all was going well, the figure of 8 round the cones, walking pace etc, all a peice of cake!! So set out the swerve part, got the cones in place and had a few runs, all going fine except i only just seem to be around the 30 MPH mark so need to be a tad faster, no problem i think to myself, the bikes more that quick enough... so bit quicker i go.. and still fine, do the run 4 / 5 times and it's fine.. until i clip a cone!!

literally brushed against it, the cone caught the mushroom on the front of the bike first, the glanced off my leg, and managed to totally snap off the rearset..

didn't do any other damage to me or the bike, but has snapped off the Peg Hanger..

Gutted... so test in a weeks time, and cant find a replacement for love nor money... not a single bloody hanger on e-bay !! just my luck !!

anyway - all my fault really, looks like i'll prob have to do the test on the NSR and then stick to 33BHP for a couple of years !

Complete shitter Shocked But yeah, you should be able to run something up that does the job.

At least you didn't do it during the test itself.

I agree, it would seem like the bike has been dropped before and the metal already much weakened for plastic to deliver a final blow such as that. Was the cone literally caught and dragged along with you?

I think I could beat the shit out of a rearset with a plastic cone for years without it breaking Laughing

No, didn't drop the bike, the plastic cone was dragged about 10 metres i think.

About a year ago, whilst my dad owned the bike it fell off it's side stand outside the garage but didn't seem to do much damage, a few light scuffs on the gearbox casing and the wing mirrors, i'm sure the casing stands out a good inch or so further than the foot peg so wouldn't have thought it could have done much damage.. could be wrong mind, i suppose it depends how it fell !

Dont know if i need to apologise or not for Hijacking my own thread Rolling Eyes - but on the MOD1 test, as it's all offroad, does the bike still need to be insured, and do i still need to display L-Plates ?? i would assume it doesn't need to be insured, but would give a better impression to have L-Plates on?!?

any idea's ??

Definitely has to be fully insured and the L-plates have to be present and fully legal (upright as possible, full size etc).
