Never done a UK 'tour' as such, but two weeks seems a long time to stay in this country. Have you thought about getting on a boat to Ireland or France? I managed a fairly decent tour of France & Spain in 9 days total.

I know it's down to personal opinions/reasons of where you want to go, but I know I'd rather be exploring another country with that timeframe.

Edit: In fact, if you're into MotoGP the Brno leg is provisionally set for the 15th August next year. I was supposed to go there this year and on to Croatia but lack of licence buggered my plans.

Two weeks isn't enough to do England never mins Scotland an Wales. There are loads of nice roads around, you just need to go and find them.
I've done Scotland for the last couple of years, going from one B&B to the next. Next year we will stay at one B&B as a base and tour all those little roads you wonder where they go. Really looking forward to it.

I did 2 weeks 'tip to tip' last year. Was actually doing it as support for a paramotor 'charity' flight, so was rather constrained by that and due to bad weather didn't get to see nearly as much of 'the UK' as I'd have liked.
Both with the trip and on my own I mostly 'wild camped' - generally I prefer this as it means you can choose a secluded spot, no long walk to the toilets an

There's plenty to see in the UK, I don't see any reason not to explore it. Most of western Europe really isn't /that/ different, especially if you consider the variety offered in smaller places in the UK too.

I'd avoid Cornwall and the Lake-district in the summer, lots of traffic so not much fun for hooning.

The Lake district I find particularly bad, you got people driving that think there cars are 10ft wide and can't overtake when there is a big opportunity, there are coach on small steep roads which go slooooooow. And the worst is people stopping/slowing randomly when they see a good view.

It is very nice, and there are some good roads, however in the summer months not too good for hooning. The views are great, if you plan to go for the views then you won't be disappointed, try bringing walking boots and go somewhere interesting too.

Although saying that I had a very good ride in Cornwall practically racing some German car back to the village I was staying at. I was trying and could only keep up. Pulled into the village to realise much to mine and my girlfriends amazement it was a female drive to... She was nuts, husband in the passenger seat too! Not had car try that before and it was great fun!

Fuel costs a bit more in France and you have to pay a bit for the ferry, but otherwise costs shouldn't be too different really?
Having recently been to the Alps, I can well recommend the Alpine roads - though apparently some to the west of Scotland are quite good in a similar manner, I'm not sure they can quite compare to the grandeur or quality of local cheese available! Razz

Was about to say.

Infact, I'd hazard a guess that it would at least be even in costs, cos planning in advance saves a lot.

35 quid return ferry to calais? WIN

Warped, I recommend europe. Even if its not massively different...it's different, simple as.

And even though mine was at times difficult, in retrospect, I dont regret any of it - it was fucking brilliant

I tend to do this country in weekend chunks, head for one area, pitch tent, then explore the next day. I have recently been down to Slovenia & Italy in 2 weeks. I would certainly recomend Europe if you have a decent time slot to do it in. Alps were fantastic even though we didn't do the higher passes and Slovenia is beautiful. The lakes in Italy are well worth a visit. This country is also well worth touring, but personaly I would save this country for shorter breaks
