Apologies for the umpteenth "I hate the govt wankers" thread....

I've just been reading some reports (on wikipedia admittedly) about the legal status of salvia, and I'm not sure wether I'm more shocked or angry.

It seems that worldwide the banhammer is falling on something totally that is perfectly safe for no real reason than fear and paranoia. I'll admit that I have a soft place in my heart for salvia so get touchy about it being thought badly of but some of this shit is unbelievable....

That wasn't done in a timely way with Meth, and now we have a devastating epidemic. Preemptive action now with 'Sally D' would likely spare countless families the horror of losing a loved one to the relentless tentacles of drug abuse...

We have enough problems with illegal drugs as it is without people promoting getting high from some glorified weed that's been brought up from Mexico. The only people I’ve heard from who are opposed to making it illegal are those who are getting stoned on it...

This makes me so angry just reading the filth that these politicians spout freely. How the hell can they pass judgement on something they have obviously not even experienced yet they would deny this to the millions that they "rule" over.

As a certain person would doubtless say.... fvcking cvnts... as thats what these people are. Its not the drugs or the kids much else wrong with the world but fucktards like this who think they have the right to tell other people what they can and can't.

Fuckers..... burn 'em all!!

The best part is that I'm one of the most calm, peaceful, friendly people you are likely to meet. Yet these bastards can get me to a level of violent rage when they and people like them try to interefere with my human rights. Its a wonder there isnt rebellion in the streets....

Funnily enough I was reading the same article on wiki regarding salvia just yesterday and also couldn't believe teh shite that was being spouted, but then you remember their motivations and it is less surprising, plus people will generally believe that the politician has gone out, done his research, weighed up the facts, contemplated the pro's and cons, and then made an educated decision.

Whereas in reality, as one account suggested on wiki, the one state senator (or whatever they fucking call them) was sat watching TV when he saw a news report on it, sure enough, without further investigation, he was out the door ready to wield is pick axe and flaming torches.

All they have to do is say "here we have a scientists testimony". That guys scientific background could be in particle physics or astronomy for all the politician cares, whats important is that the public see and hear the scientist, and when this dude reads out his pre-planned script, the public are made to think irrevocably that the salvia is "deh evulz".

Not sure what the future holds for salvia in the UK, however, I think if it was announced that it is to be banned I'd probably stock up on some stash and maybe even have a go at growing my own - start your own ethnobotanical garden! (I've been toying with the idea of growing my own cacti Very Happy )
