My first vinyl...

Got my first evel vinyl today...

Its various Under the Gun mixes by Sisters of Mercy. To be honest I only really bought it for the massive poster it came with but I'll keep the record now.

What was the first viny the you bought?

First one I owned was Metallica jump in the fire 12". The first one I bought was Metallica ...And justice for all. Up until then I listened to my Dads Status Quo and Queen records etc. I did have loads of tapes though.

'We Have Come for Your Children' LP by The Dead Boys (1978). A bunch of American Punk-Rockers.
At the time i had no turntable so i'd take my records to friends, they were into Klaus Schulze and heavy rock so weren't impressed with my stuff

I inherited a lot of vinyl from my mum, dad and sisters, and taped a lot of mate's records, so I didn't actually buy anything until 1981, when I was 15. It was Louis Clark's "Hooked on Classics", 12" extended mix.

The last vinyl I bought was Sam Brown's "Stop" in 1988.

So, how many of you have vinyl cause you're audiophiles, and how many have them to dj?
For me it's purely for djing, but I did buy eminem's last album on vinyl just out of respect. No intention on mixing it or playing it much as I have it all on mp3 anyway.

I've got a lot of 60s/70s stuff from my parents, but the first one I bought myself was Wonderwall by Oasis, as a 12" single. Think that was 1995.

The cartridge I'm using is an Audio Technica AT110E - pretty good for the £30 it cost, although I think they've been discontinued now which doesn't bode well for future stylus availability.
