Gimmie one of these instead please!
Those things on that site are nothing more than string vests with high-viz tape stuck on 'em. ____________________ CBT February 2008 | A2 June 2008 | Yamaha YBR125 (written off) | Honda CBF125 (current) |

I've had their TourStar vest for about 3 years now RRP £50 but I picked it up at BikeSafe in Cheltenham for £39 "special offer".
It has the advantage of having both luminous and reflective strips on the vest.
I quite like it and although expensive it has some good features, it's adjustable so when I take my winter liner out and adjust my jacket the vest can be adjusted and doesn't flap about.
I has a sturdy zip, so it doesn't come undone and flap about.
It has loads of pockets, making hot-jacketing a thing of the past.
It's machine washable, doesn't fade, and is handmade in England (so says the label).
If you're going to buy one, buy it from a show on special offer and buy the next size up. ____________________ My claim to fame: Austin Vince nicked my pen...

I have to agree, that is a ridiculous amount for what is essentially an over-designed hi-viz... ____________________ My Bikes: Piaggio NRG| Aprilia RS 125| Suzuki GSX-R 600|Yamaha Fazer Ducati 848

Look at the guys in the testimonials. BMW, BMW, BMW. And it's endorsed by Ewan McBoorman himself.
"Why yes, my buddies in the City Traders 99%ers Motorcycle Club all thought that £30 for a hi visibility vest that doesn't make you look like some sort of WASTE COLLECTOR was quite spiffing! It was in the Dog and Hammer it was, delightful gastropub, I'd just paid £27 for two bottles of Beck's when Nathaniel says to me..." etc etc ____________________ Previous: 2002 Honda CB500 (sold), 2007 Suzuki SV650SK6 (crashed), 2005 Yamaha FZ6 Fazer (sold). I have searched the net now for weeks, and these guys seem to be the only seller of this type of vest.
Hence the cost there is no competition.... ____________________ Current bike..Honda VFR 800 Vtec

Why not simply get a fishing waistcoat and then sew some 3M reflective tape on......
Other than that its a waste of money for what you get. Might as well get one of the reflective belts that go round your waist and across your shest/back. Or even better, a couple of quid down the market and you have a proper HiVis vest. ____________________ Just because my bike was A DIVVY, does not mean i am...... |

So let me get this right you can get :
1.a waistcoat for around £5 (or steal one from work) which meets a proper standard for visibility set by clever scientists in white coats (EN471 class2 if you were wondering- I know you were really)
2.you can pay £30 for something less visible
3.you could my new product which is an even more discreet indeed some might say less visible waistcoat from me for only £29.99. It's called Low-Vis just send me the money and I'll send you what at first may seem to be an empty envelope.........
Why would you want low visibility Hi-vis
p.s. I still have some Woolworths gift vouchers and some Michael Jackson tickets if anybody's interested, afraid I just sold the last Eifell Tower |

As an alternative, I saw a new style '09 Oxford Bright Top yesterday, it looked pretty robust, but is still around £30. ____________________ My claim to fame: Austin Vince nicked my pen... |

I accidently brought home a hi-vis vest from a focused events trackday earlier this year.
Found it yesterday whilst rooting through the cupboard.

Considering the most common type of bike accident is a smidsy, I'll continue to wear the hi-viz throughout winter / at night / any poor vis conditions. I don't think there's many people who'll purposefully pull out in front of you just because they think you're a traffic warden. ____________________ current: ducati monster 750
