I have seen alot in the papers recently about layabouts who have never worked a day in their life and claiming state benefits and then having umpteen kids. I don't want to appear to be derogatory to anyone who has been made redundant or the children of these people, but I find it annoying the benefits system which was set up to supplement people in hardship make it so easy for these people to remain on the social and take the piss out of everyone who has contributed to the tax system.
Even a couple of close relatives of mine 'swindle the system 1 of whom has been given his state pension at 60yrs old on the premise he will never work again he hasn't worked since 1973, another example would be another who manages to claim neaarly £400pw for lying about the severity of their epilepsy, I work a 65 hour week to get that and I also am afflicted with epilepsy but have chosen to continue working for the pride of being in the position, influence my children and if nothing else to avoid the boredom.

If you are of a sensitive disposition do not continue to read the rest of this post as it will cause severe anger no kidding.

https://ourdailydebt.wordpress.com/2009/09/18/the-government-giveth/

its actually reported about +15% more than the real figures as we had a huge ruckus about it on another forum.

The tax figures are also startling 155ish bn in income tax taken 175bn in 'social welfare' (guess what this is).

HOWEVER,

Think about it, in that these people are doing what is most economically beneficial for themselves, i.e. who is the mug? the guy who goes out to work 40+ hours a week for 20K or the person who stays at home in the above example?.

Marginal rates of tax are so incredibly high by benefits being removed this removes all incentive to actually work, i.e. if you earn £1 the government takes away 60p of benefit.

However they are setting themselves up for a massive trap in the future in that once the children hit 6 or is it 9 years old the benefit gets cut massively, all of a sudden they have a huge cut in income AND have no work experience and thus can't even get the worst jobs.

The trap is coming, the government have been doing everything and anything to prevent the massive cuts and or tax hikes or collaspe, even printing money a la Zimbabwe. Post May there is going to be a huge axe no matter who comes into power, and the UK may not have a choice as the IMF may withhold loans if we do not do the things they ask.

The fairer method is the high personal allowances system and low taxes in the first place,

ie you can earn £12500 in Hong Kong and pay £27 tax on it, (with an optional 5% for NIC equiv)

Or in Korea earn 3 million KRW and pay 10% on it.

If you have a child oh ok you can have some more allowances, if you get married or go to school you can have some more allowances, hence you still have to EARN the allowances.

However such systems come at rather high social cost, in Tokyo, Seoul, taipei (less HK) there were enourmous numbers of old homeless people.

However as I have said the deal is different in Asia, in Asia the government does not interfere it taxes you lightly and expects YOU and YOU alone to make adequate provision for your life.

I.e it would be like the UK government saying ok we will cut taxes in half no quarter it, use that money wisely to prepare for bad times or your retirement. People would have little sympathy for those who went out and pished it up the wall.

Interesting... how does he get £400pw for epilepsy? Laughing

The problem isn't the people abusing the system, the problem is that it can be so easily abused. People abuse it because they're in a better position than they would for being a good little law abiding citizen, it's wrong and I kinda disagree with it but I can see why people do it and it does seem a good idea if you look at how much you could get from them.

If you change the system so it can't be abused then it'd be naive to think that all those people would then go and get jobs at minimum wage. If they did that then they'd be working long hours and having less disposable income (that's if they had enough in the first place to cover rent/bills/council tax/basic living costs) than they did when claiming benefits. So some people would turn to crime to make money, so that would mean an increase in the cost of policing and other costs caused by their crimes.

Don't really see much of an answer to the problem.

I think he should be more concerned about the benefit-scroungers at the top (all politicians and the majority of lesser civil-servants) than those at the bottom. The ones at the top do far more harm.

Laughing Laughing Laughing

The person who claims £400pw has told doctors they have fits more often than they actually do, this is hard to prove, they have also said they soil themselves in the throes of a seizure, also not true and that they require carers.
Then this year this person has spent spent 10 wks in spain in 3 seperate holidays whilst I am struggling to pay for christmas.

In some respects I wonder why I do go to work knowing I could claim disability benefits for my own affliction but the main reason I suppose is to set an example to my kids.

People can sort them selfs out, and if your poor you work or you can get fu*ked.

I'm afraid I have to agree with this. I'm very limited in the work I can do, and the amount of it, due to my refusal to give the greater part of what I earn to the scum in tax. If I could keep all of what I earn, minus a fair amount for indispensable services (A&E for example), I'd be at it a lot harder. A 10% income-tax, that's it. No VAT, no gas tax, no road-tax, no alcohol, tobacco, poll...you get the picture, absolutely nada else.

Until that happens I will remain in the so-called black economy, and pay only those taxes I absolutely cannot avoid (which by themselves are considerable).

Let those who can, earn it and keep it. Those who can't, fvck off and die, sink or swim.

I think the cutoff age is 7, so when the kid turns 6, the mother just pops out another kid and so we're back to square one.

Is that REALLY your view? You actually seem like a socialist in many of your other posts; and the whole supporting the weak seems to be a general trend too?

I'm afraid I'm not particularly stable in my viewpoints in recent weeks. I go from wanting humanity exterminated to wanting it enjoying a utopia, and back again. From hope to anger or something. I look at this useless craven cow-like mass of weakness and cowardice and I want to see it smashed, if only because that would destroy the vermin at the top too. Then I think that they're not weak, they're just helpless, and should be protected from the vermin at the top. Bottom line, too much thinking about something that has no solution, it's made me intellectually erratic. Laughing

A return to a closer knit family style would help solve the problem of being unable to provide for yourself in older age or ill health. Those who are able to contribute do what they can, be it work for an income, gardening, cooking, washing, teaching, babysitting, repairs - anything that increases the comfort and well-being of the group.

Can't be arsed to contribute? Better be able to feed, clothe and house yourself.

a society of consequence would help..having to earn a citizen ship by developing/displaying good moral value-willingness to learn and by the age of 18 well on your way to having something valuable to Offer your society...then you get a green card..something to offer your in! just like any other country.

those who don't rise to this line, the anti social no effort no self development fuck-wits they don't get the card and are limited in the jobs they can work "clean the toilets" "clean the cars"...this of course would increase crime Laughing but if it could be stamped out and there was no where to turn ones back it would eventually work...having to earn by your actions the right to be an adult functioning in society...coming with this the right to drink, the right to own property( Shocked )..the right to drive, the right to open a business and earn your self millions in doing so providing you stick to whats right through out your life...

while the no gooders are restricted to boarding school like accommodation the shitest jobs in the country and all the motivation in the world to become something...we would see a hell of a lot less full time by choice benefit heads if they were bought up in such a way to respect the position they can hold...like being normal is an accomplishment! ingrain it into them Laughing.

nothings going to change until the FOOLS in "charge" are gone-the gov just take take take take-not create something for the uplifting of society.
