This is a Documentary about the Venezuelan Coup attempt on Hugo Chavez in 2002. Some of you may have seen this, but this is for those of you that haven't.

https://www.tv-links.eu/show_link.php?data=Mjg3NjAz

Hugo Chavez was criticized as being a dictator, a murderer and communist. In this video you will get up close and personal with Chavez and have the opportunity to make your own judgment.

Chavez staged his own coup attempt in 1992, but he failed and was imprisoned, so in 1998 he began his own campaign and was elected in 2000 by a landslide victory.

Venezuela was a country like ours in the sense that the minority controlled the majority of the wealth. Chavez set about to change this
by changing policy on oil (Venezuela is 4th largest oil reserve in the world, and were basically selling it cheap to America). The reserves rightfully belonged to the state, and Chavez hoped to spread its wealth amongst the people, not just the rich.

In this film you will have an opportunity to see how effective media control is and the strength of the people to overcome its lies and manipulation and to stand up against an illicit and corrupt government. Something that i worry our own people here in Britain may not or do not have the courage to do in the face of a revolution, because we all know it, we are way overdue one.

So wait, is he bad?
Spreading oil wealth among the people sounds good? Shame communism is a dirty word really.

I am confused because you seem to like him; but then say its about standing up to an evil and corrupt government? and you are talking about what happened in 2002 right?

No, he was a saviour for the Venezuelan people. The media were trying to tar him with the communist brush because he was a socialist.

Personally i think in theory communism isn't a bad idea, its just when the leaders are corrupt and selfish is when it all starts to go tits up. Much of the communism we have experience of has been corrupt (Russia, N.Korea etc.)

Yeh, im talking about what happened in 2002 when the opposition attempted a Coup on Chavez and the people revolted.

Go watch the John Pilger film "War on Democracy", there's a pretty good interview of Chavez by Pilger, and a some good stuff about the coup attempt. He isn't too bad as far as Latin American rulers go. The reason the Western press demonise him and "spin" anything he says is geostrategic interest. We want that fvcking oil! and as far as US geostrategy goes, that oil is only a few days from the gas tank, with no unstable transit routes (like Afghanistan for example).

Revolution WNBT is a fairly old film.

Communism/socialism didn't fail only because of corruption; but because capitalism wasn't yet advanced enough to allow the evolution.
I agree with this, and it also seems to coincide with early Marxist theory.
