Just posting this to see if anyone is intrested in joining me on a 2 week tour of Morocco around feb next year, should be able to do it on the cheap (£800-1000 max) but there will be some offroading so a bike with offroad capability will be needed, l will be on my BMW R100GSPD.

Plan would be to get to Morocco in 2 days (plus 2 days home) leaving 12 days to tour if leaving on a friday night.

Possibly, but probably not. Offroading wouldn't be a problem, not enough of it might be Razz.

Probably not, though, as I say Smile.

I'm a bit interested. Would you be getting the ferry down all the way to morocco ? Where does it leave from ? Does one go direct from the UK to Morocco ?

If I were to do it, I'd be on an elderly yamaha ttr250, which isnt exactly a tourer, but would be great off road.

How many miles would you be thinking of doing a day ?

Would be getting the ferry in spain at the shortest crossing, so it a 2 day 1500 mile blast across france and spain so will quite hard going on a little bike. daily mileage will be around 300 in morocco but it will be dependant on condistions, l dont stick to a route or timetable just go till l have to start heading back.

Just a little suggestion, previous to my stint here in the Northern Sahara i was in the Western Sahara place called Layoune the area is still a point of contension between Morocco and Algeria so there are loadsa UN people there, but its only about 80K from the Canary islands by boat so you could get a cheap flight for your self and bike and then spend 2 weeks riding back to blighty.

As another option, this bloke an interesting service: https://www.biketruck.com/
He only does it once or twice a year, but basically he takes your bike to Malaga or similar for £500 and you get a cheap flight.
If you look at ferry, fuel, tyres and possibly toll road fees, the £500+flights may not be that bad.

Not a bad idea, riding there works out at £200 in fuel and the tunnel get to Algeniras then its £150 return for the ferry to Tangier which is,nt that bad

DXB, found the ferry service on HUBB though this was,nt very reassuring. Laughing

Got the ferry and tunnel tickets booked today as well as the time off work.

leaving on friday 19th feb coming back sunday 8th march.

euro tunnel return came to £46 and a return ferry from almeria to nandor over night with a 2 man cabin £200, alot cheaper than when l took a overnight ferry to norway.
