I'm considering a Cat D bike. The (very slight) damage was fixed by a previous owner; the bike then was sold/traded to a dealer, then to it's current owner. Anyone got any ballpark idea what kindof reduction a Cat D does to resale value Question I'm thinking not alot, it's just part of the bike's history Karma

Cheers

Usually cat D (for cars at least) is only worth about 75-85% market value I believe. I could be way wrong and it all depends on the condition of the bike.

I'd think that a Cat D is just something like a scratch to a fairing or something, nothing serious at all.

i wouldn't expect that to decrease it buy much if anything

Category D Insurance Write Off - the vehicle is economically repairable but other factors are involved that cause the insurer to declare the vehicle a write off. Perhaps the replacement car hire is too costly or it will take too long for a specialist part to be delivered.

Yeah they tend to do that if the fairings are buggered.
Rather that than spend ~£1500 on plastics.

I suppose the bike is worth whatever you want to pay for it.
Other than that i can't see a downside with a cat d.
