Moving abroad...

Me and a few mates have had the idea of moving abroad for 6-12months, somewhere like australia, new zealand or canada.

Has anyone on here done that?
The idea is to save up a bit, fly to wherever we choose to go and get a house (rented obviously) and get a job out there.

How much do you reckon we'd need to save up and what country is best for finding outdoor work? i'm a tree surgeon and another mate is too, the other one is a carpenter.

Any help/advice/tips would be appreciated.

Hi

Age will come into it. Eg, think in Aus if you are under 25 you can get a working holiday visa for a year, but think there are limits on how long you can work in any particular job in that year.

we're all 18-19 years old.

I was meant to be going aus this year but chose not to in the end.

The thing i'm struggling to figure out is how much we would need to save, so if anyone has done this before any estimates would be nice.

You are a tree surgeon? , Hong Kong , or Taiwan, their tree surgeons are terrible...their brand of tree surgery is to cut all the branches off the tree leaving just a stump. They assured me it would grow back, I did not believe them, and it didn't grow back.

That said you will bake in the stunning heat 30~42C 70-95% humidity

Get yourself a working visa, and look on the Immigration NZ/OZ websites (there are loads), and just go...! You are under 30, so you won't have a problem.

Look on Gumtree.com for the relevant NZ website, and put an ad up yourself, and have alook around the hostel noticeboards and you should get lucky.

If you head for Queenstown, NZ during their winter, you will find plenty of seasonal jobs. Enjoy yourself! Wish I had done it when I was young enough to get the working visa.

Get yourself a one year working visa.

Any of the mentioned countries will take you with your jobs.

You not considered just going to Europe, lots more to see imo and for EU countries and the culture is a lot more different so will be more interesting. Probably easier to work in an EU country than any of those you mentioned.

Inside the EU you can move and set up with almost no hassle or need for a visa
I lived and worked in Holland for 5 years, and a bit of time in Spain
but for the US / canada / Aussieland etc you need a work visa
if your into tree's Canada's full of them and has a big timber industry
though mostly chopping them down and cutting them up
Don't fancy America myself, my liking for the old "morrocan woodbine" could get me jail time over there
