Its getting a bit nippy this time of year, and the driving rain HURTS!! Shocked I was thinking of getting one of these:-

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VIPER-NEOPRENE-FACE-MASK-paintball-ski-helmet-black_W0QQitemZ320421577033

Anyone used/uses one?

You can get full face versions too ...

Now I was cold and very wet on my torso also ...

It crossed my mind that I'd probably be better off with a wetsuit on underneath ... anyone ever tried this??? Thinking

Further to this, you can get wetsuit gloves and socks/boots Thinking

Your thoughts scare me sometimes mate Laughing

Why not get decent army surplus goretex gear to go over the top? They're properly dry, and not very much money...

On a serious note, have you considered a lid like this :

https://img139.imageshack.us/img139/6360/lid.jpg

£105 off www.dirtbikexpress.co.uk

I know a few people who ride with them and love them. Stops all the misting up of googles ect. and when you want some air/ cool down you open your visor up.

Although in the summer when things are a bit 'dusty' they can be not so good, and thats were motocross helmets are better.

They are practical, but too ugly and dull looking for me, so i wear my motocross helmet and goggles all year-round.

So, are these sealskinz socks actually worth the money?

I can't have feet like last week ever again Laughing far far too cold and painful was only real complaint of the day!

It's between sealskinz (which are the same as the army ones I think, can only find second hand ones on ebay tho!) or possibly wetsuit boots!! Yes sounds weird but in theory wet suit boots are designed to keep your feet warm in cold water and to be honest with the knee deep wading we were doing on sunday, I'm not sure theres anything on the market that's going to stop your feet getting wet! Which is why I'm considering the wet suit boots... haha.

I need some waterproof gloves as well, any suggestions? only reasonable ones I've found on ebay are these;

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Spada-White-Camo-Waterproof-Enduro-Gloves-Motocross-XXL_W0QQitemZ170277041764QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Motorcycle_Protective_Clothing?hash=item27a54d7664

Anyone used these?

I too can't really see that ANY gear would keep you fully waterproof when wading through water and exposed to driving rain and forced 'splashing' (for example, I hit one puddle so hard, it just about knocked my boot clean off the peg ... and I was stood on my feet at the time!! Shocked) ... can anything truly work against all that all day, can it??? Thinking

So why bother trying to stop it - it is a losing battle surely??? .... However, a wetsuit, once it is wet (and had time to consequently heat up) will actually keep you warm as long as it stays wet ... and when it is dry, it acts as insulation layer ... its win win!! Smile

I think I am going to try my wetsuit out at the weekend, its only a 'shorty' mind ... also it doesn't help the foot or hand/finger problems!!!

They don't even come past the height of your boots though, soon as you're in water past boot height the water will just get in the top and prob won't drain either! And trust me, I was in water past my knees at times on sunday Laughing

If they were knee high they'd probably be suitable..

if the water above the knee only waders are doing to work, sealskins are only water proof to the ankel then they let water in.

Yeah, that is what I thought ... seems like a good idea for walking in a field, but when water is going in OVER the boot ... no use at all then Sad

But the goretex trews go over the boot, and down to the ankle - if the elasticated bottoms are doing their job, then water will have a hard time geting in? Combine this will surplus goretex socks and job's a good un...

I find wetsuits massively restrictive - though I understand the point you're making re: insulation. Can't even contemplate riding in one however Laughing

I can't wait to see this Mr. Green

+1 Thumbs Up Worked for me today ... went on a ride down the local lanes .. hit deep water ... usually get soaked feet instantly.

GoreTex Army sock + GoreTex Army overtrousers + Sinisalo waterproof jacket = Dry as a bone Thumbs Up

Surely you should just man up and ride faster to keep warm ?
Wearing a shortie wetsuit to keep warm when riding an off road bike all seems a bit camp.

Also, once they are wet, they are wet ... they are either going to short out and stop working or the heat is going to be dispersed so quickly its is not worth turning them on ...
