I've been training for a charity run i've got this saturday and i've been getting some horrific blisters! I know quite a lot of people on here run so i was wondering, any tips or products i should get to make them go before Saturday and also how to prevent getting more while i train this week?
Cheers people! ____________________ |--Previous--|:2007 Aprilia SX50... --Current--|: 2007 Kawasaki ER-6N

My OH started to suffer with blisters while running. She went to a specialist sports shop and they analysed her running style.
They concluded that her shoes had the wrong level of cushioning, since she has an odd running style.
So in the long term, the correct shoes are a must I think.
Short term, have you tried different socks? Not that I am suggesting you never change your socks.... I know this has also helped my OH. ____________________ 25/7 I'm a God-damn Rock Star

Might sound a strange remedy but coating your feet in Vaseline will help. |

There's a blister product called something like Compeed ( I can't get to the first aid kit where I have some as it's underneath two rooms worth of furniture - I'm having new carpets laid)!!
It comes in a little plastic pack and seals over the blister like a piece of extra skin - very weird but the only thing that will work with such short notice until your run.
Invest in a pair of the double layer socks too - they are a bit pricey but worth it. Matalan used to sell some similar and very cheap but not sure if they still do as they tend to be a summer line.
Well done you and good luck!! ____________________ 'The core of a man's spirit comes from new experiences'

Got some of that Compeed stuff today, seems to be working well so far. Took the pain away which is good, might whack some on just before my run to prevent blisters as well .
Also got some Zinc Oxide plaster which is apparently good for stopping rubbing? Doesn't say wether i can put it straight onto bare skin or not though so i'm a bit apprehensive about it atm.
Cheers for all the help peoples ____________________ |--Previous--|:2007 Aprilia SX50... --Current--|: 2007 Kawasaki ER-6N

The blisters are still just as big atm, although feel a lot less pressurised than they did. Groin muscle still hasn't recovered which is a worry with only 3-4 days to go, going for a slow jog tommorow to see if it's painful though. If worst comes to the worst i'll have to just rest until Saturday, performance will drop though which sucks.

Got the run tommorow morning! Still got the blisters although they don't hurt anymore so i'll wrap them up and put 2 pairs of socks on for the run.
Got a bigger problem though as i pulled my groin 2 weeks ago and it's quite a bad strain as it still hurts, never the less i'm gonna push through the pain. I know i could do more damage to it, but i've been training so hard and considering im running in aid of Help for Heroes a groin strain is nothing to what them lads go through.
Heres to hoping it holds up ____________________ |--Previous--|:2007 Aprilia SX50... --Current--|: 2007 Kawasaki ER-6N

Went great , feet were fine and didn't get any more blisters which was good! I've really done my groin muscle in as it was already strained before the run, can walk on it okay so not too bad but just hurts A LOT. Got round in 1 Hour 23 minutes, not the quickest but it wasn't really a 'race' more of a challenge. Got caped in mud and was completely drenched but worth it, one of the best experiences i've ever had.
