nsr125 con rod and big end change

hello im new, i did a search and couldnt find what im looking for.
my engine is already out and in bits. in fact its boxed up its that long since i made any progress. i ran out of time and parts.

i've finally got round to ordering my con rod kit and need a little advise. a mechanic neighbour said to remove the con rod from the crank i need a press. he doesnt have one but i have access to one.

however before i attempt to remove the con rod id like to make sure i know what im doing. i dont want to go in blind and break something.

so can anyone give me a few pointers please. im hoping its simply a case of applying pressure and it will pop out.

Hi

You need a press to get the rod out, and also to reassemble it. You will also need to make sure that the crank is straight again after pressing the new rod in place (it almost certainly won't be and you will need to do a bit of manipulation).

by straight i assume you mean that the centers are aligned?

Yep, generally checked using some V blocks and a dial gauge, and manipulated by careful smacks on the crank with a copper mallet.

my con ron kit off ebay got canceled

i was only tempted by free postage anyways so can somebody recomend a good quality parts supplier please.
i need a couple of other bits also, so might as well put it all on the same order.

To be honest if you are wondering if you need a press to do the crank then I would say you are best off getting someone else to do the work for you.
