I can't say what's worth doing that I haven't done, but here's a few things I have done that are worth doing, and really aren't that tricky to arrange.
Bungee jump - Yes jumping off is scarey, but the up and down is good fun, particularly the bit when you go up and feel weightless before you start going back down again.
Ride a motorbike - ok most of us do that
Do a trackday - This is surprisingly worth doing. I'm not particularly fast on the road, and tend to be cautious, with daft reckless moment which I regret. A trackday is scarey the first few sessions, but then feels liberating, as you have all that space with nothing coming the other way. You might not think it's your thing, but it is bloody good.
I think foreign travel is over rated, if you just do things you could do here on a sunny day, but swimming with multi-coloured fishes in places that do this sort of thing, is surprisingly ace. I just did snorkelling, btu scuba may be better
Rock climbing is pretty good.
My dads ambition was to get a microlite aircraft before he died. He never did, but I might adopt his ambition, or at the very least be a passenger in one.
Mr Shand, I like your sig on this theme. ____________________ colin1 is officially faster than god |

I am working on my list, as 40 draws ever nearer for me too:
Run the London Marathon (applied 3 times, still not got in)
Write a book and get it published (book underway)
Race a motorbike competitively at least once (no where near)
Learn to play the piano (started but never got anywhere)
That's about it for me, if I achieve those I'll die happy
Cheers

So Grim, you plan to die at 40 then?? |
Nope, but guessing at how long it would take me to run 26 miles 385 yards, I reckon I'll be will into my 70's by the time I finish
Cheers

Ive only got one major goal left and thats to be totally self-sufficient and run my own life without having to fit in with the norm and do what other people want me to do.
With a bit of luck and lots of perseverance i should be there within 2-3 years.
The wheels are already in motion. |

What, like walk on the Great Wall of China, fly over Mount Cook in a helicopter, walk on top of a glacier, visit the worlds oldest Wat, explore Angkor Wat, see the laser display over Hong Kong harbour, walk around Ayres Rock...yeah, all achievable in the UK on a sunny day, Colin1!!! ____________________ Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter won't mind - Dr. Seuss |

That list is exactly the sort of thing I mean. It's like a who's who, it's like a list of impressive things.
I'm more interested in activities for their own sake, rather than being in famous exotic locations.
Spend the same amount of money here, and you could do loads of stuff.
However you could merge your fondness for exotic locations, with my keen ness for interesting activies.
Forget the wall of china, when was the last time you visited one of Englands many castles ?
So for me, it would be far more interesting to learn how to kite surf, and then maybe do that in an exotic location if need be.
That goes the same for about anything. Take any fun activity and add exotic location, will probably raise it a notch or two.
so I like dirt biking in a forest, but raising that a notch or two, would be to do a guided motorbike holiday on dirt bikes through the Drakensberg mountains between South Africa and Lesotho.
Flying a microlite would be good, so how about take it through the grand canyon.
Riding in a helicopter would be fun, but how much more fun would it be if you learnt to fly it yourself.
Having said that, in some cases, if you go somewhere where the cost of living is cheap, and you go there for long enough. It may actually work out not too expensive per day. ____________________ colin1 is officially faster than god |

And you would assume I haven't already...why? What else do you profess to know about me...? |
Well if you had learnt to fly a helicopter, I'd presume you would agree with me that it was fun to do. The point was not whether or not you can or cant fly a helicopter, the point was whether it would be more fun to be an active participant, than a passenger.
I know very little about you, but a bit more than you might expect, as I know someone you know.
Forget it being about you, your list is for you, my list is for me.
I was pitching my list to you, but if you like castles, and the wall of china, and have no interest in the stuff I mentioned, that's fine.
I found this out after I posted in this thread, but funnily enough Karl Pilkington has a similar notion on this to me, and there is going to be a tv series, where he goes to the severn wonders of the world, because he said they were shit really, without having seen them.
So if anyone is willing to pay for a world tour for me, to prove me wrong, that's fine by me.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/article-1234436/Karl-Pilkington-host-new-Sky-travel-slating-Seven-Wonders-World.html
I'm not completely against world travel, as I am considering Cape town, which has beach, mountains, city, developed world, undeveloped world all rolled into one with a favourable exchange rate. ____________________ colin1 is officially faster than god |
