Well, just coming back from the supermarket on my bike i notice a nice bike going the other way, i nod to the guy riding it. i notice out of the corner of my eye that the lights at a pedetrian crossing are abmber. "ah well they are going to red soon" *backs off the throttle*
i then see them go to red, i slam on my brakes as hard as i can. its raining so i cant brake hard enough to stop before the lights. I am left with a choice of stopping on the crossing or going over it at 5mph, as the crossing is completly empty i roll over it.

There was a camera on one of the lights. Am i likely to be in trouble? will it just be 3 points?
as i am still on L plates and have only passed my driving test a few weeks back 6 points would completly screw me over :/

Danke

If anything it'll be 3 points.
Just be extra careful as you can only get 6 (for now) I think before you'll have to take your test again.

6 points means you are disqualified from driving, which basically means knackered insurance for life!

The ones that are on the lights are radars for detecting traffic.

The tiny ones, smaller then the one above, are just for detecting traffic or something.

Cameras which actually catch red-light-runner look like normal speed cameras but a little bit "thinner", as depicted in the pic above.

If it looked like a CCTV camera sitting on top of the lights, then thats a sensor as True Blue says to detect traffic, and you wont be getting points or anything.

As the others said if it was a small box on top of the lights it was a flow sensor. Nothing to worry about, just be more careful crossings are not always empty! A momentary lapse of concentration can get you a life time of regret Wink
