Office 2007 equiv. package for Macbook

No need for an equivalent, there is an official Mac version of office - https://www.microsoft.com/MAC/default.mspx

There's also the Apple office suite - https://www.apple.com/iwork/

OpenOffice would probably do the trick fine though.

If you find a copy make sure it is up-to-date, they recently released an update which fixed a bug where the formatting pallet would jump and just generally fuck you off when using spaces.

I contemplated getting rid of it and going for Apple's writer, but seen as I'd be a gump and paid for it I kept it. Glad to see they fixed it though

Open office I've found to be not so great for the Mac - misses out a lot of the functions that have been in MS Office for a long time.

I think it's a damned good solution for the "fiscally impaired" and "reluctant torrentinos" among the populous. But, it does lack some major issues, as G mentioned. One being up until recently SCALC (the spreadsheet app) wouldn't add numbers up correctly. Some kind of Java issue I think, but anyway, the later versions do not suffer. It's free, and it will exist alongside any other apps you have, so what is there to lose!

you could use Wine (wine aint an emulator) although it is not great on a mac. works well for running windows programs on linux though

Foudn neo-office worse than open-office 3, as it's based on older code.
More buggy too.
I also tried Lotus Symphony which had different problems (based on open office too).
Open Office 3 seems to be the best of the free ones available.
