Just wondering if anyone in the know, knows?

I need details of my complete criminal record for something, but I have no idea where to look/who to ask.

I thought that with the broad spectrum of people on here someone would know.

You need to write to the police for a subject access request, this gives you a copy of everything they hold on you and is to comply with the freedom of information act. It will show everything recorded on the police computers whether it is spent or not, so if you have spent convictions that you don't need to declare for certain jobs they will still show, It costs £10 I think.

Applying for a crb check on yourself is a waste of time because they will only give you a basic disclosure (current and spent convictions).Standard and enhanced disclosures are only given through companies and only if the reason for the application is valid and you have given your approval first.

You get it from your regions headquarters,not the local cop shop.

Do their "kept records" only show convictions?

Or does it also show arrests.

Is there any other activity that MIGHT be kept a record of?

Such as, say, if they raided somewhere (for whatever reason) and you happened to be on the premises and [were stupid enough to give your real name and address] ? Laughing

Or if you, say, had cause to call them to an address for some reason?

This story may annoy you kat, there is also a grey area on cautions as cautions are not covered by the spent convictions thing as they are not strictly convictions hence theoretically last forever.

They have details of EVERYTHING....absolutely everything.
Every encounter youve ever had with the police (for whatever reason) is held on your file.

Even if youve never actually been in direct trouble with them,they`ll still have your name logged as a known associate if youve been seen with or associate with people who are known to them/involved in offences etc etc etc.
That ^^^doesnt go on your record though,its just intelligence stuff on file,but if the chief inspector releasing your information feels certain companies should know about some of it,he can/will include it all in standard/enhanced crb checks.

They have to release everything they hold on you for a subject data access request.

It is possible that different counties are counted as separate bodies, but I would assume that they are sufficiently joined up to provide your information for all police contact.

Technically, a subject data access request to the Home Office should give you this information, as long as specificy data held by the Home Office, along with any of its delivery partners and 3rd party suppliers.
