Hi
Bought a Vbox Video Lite
Been thinking about one of these for a while, and now they have brought out the cheaper Lite version I splashed out.
Stuck it on my YSR50 for a short run. Camera is mounted far too low, so all you see is the tops of houses (and a tractor) along with the speedo (which was the main thing I wanted to see). Used the YSR to ensure there were no incriminating speeds .
YSR speedo appears to give some fairly random speeds. Few times the speedo jumps up ~5mph while the vbox GPS speed doesn't change.

Boring video, but just wanted to play.
Only got a single camera setup for now (it will run with a 2nd camera and do picture in picture). They also do an input module so you can log (and display on the video) rpm and a few other parameters (eg, temperature, throttle position, etc). Might well get these when my bank account has recovered.
All the best

You can get a very similar effect with a S60 mobile phone/BT + Racechrono (well and naturally a device to record)
Search Racechrono2avi
I'll hopefully be doing the same for trackdays next year ____________________ My bikes are at https://www.bikepics.com/members/dynamight/ |

Hi
The pro version supports 4 cameras and has a few other functions. However for a 2 camera pro kit the price is close to £2500 (they do a cheaper version of the pro kit with a fixed watermark of their logo).
Racechrono was a possibility (people use Racechrono2AVI it with the Driftbox). But the video Vbox records the scene directly to SD card with the overlays (so no need to faff around merging them afterwards, although you can design your own overlays), does picture in picture direct to the card as well, plus logs a vbox log which you can check afterwards (so you can check speed, position, lateral G, longitudinal G, heading, height, etc). Using the input module it can also log and display on screen a load of other parms such as temperature, rpm (can plug into the CAN bus setup on modern vehicles for one parm, the pro version can get a lot more through the CAN bus), throttle position, etc.
Also the GPS engine it uses is a 10hz one rather than the normal 1hz gps units (I have written software to extract info from a normal GPS log myself). I have managed to find a 5hz Bluetooth gps unit but the quality of the logs was dire. With a normal 1hz GPS unit at 100mph you have travelled about 50 yards between each gps record (and accelerating from a standstill, you could have gained 20mph).
Other point is that the Vbox and Driftbox do not take their speed directly from GPS position (which is to inaccurate). They measure speed through the doppler effect on the GPS signal, which is far more accurate.
Example of the use of Racechrono2AVI with data from a Driftbox log:-

The Driftbox does support the input module as well so you could log rpm, etc with it. Not sure if Racechrono2AVI will support putting them on screen though.
All the best
