Posted: 10:54 - 12 Dec 2009 Post subject: My first week as a pick up artist! |
 |
|
As you'll remember, I recently posted about picking up girls, and some of you responded. I've been giving a go this week.
Picking up girls as an "art" is rubbish. There's no art to it, but there are techniques that will give greater success than others. It's the same with any socil interaction: there's methods of persuasion that work, others than leave the target cold.
I used to work in sales, so I'm not uncomfortable talking to strangers (although it was a long time ago). I also know from my sales years, that there are subtle conversational tricks that keep the discussion in your control. I.e.: you don't ask whether they want to buy your shit, you ask how much they want.
I'm no super stud, lets be clear. However, I'm not ugly, by any means, and I've allowed my doubts about how I look to get in the way too much. No more to that: if a girl doesn't find me attractive, she nuts, as far as I'm concerned.
Things I have done this week:
- Flirted with girls at work. I work in a school, so this includes tutors, other staff, etc. In fact, I've been making (lame) efforts with most of the pretty girls, all week. There is one lady in particular that I'm going for, but I feel that I'm becoming a bit of a pastice of myself, and I need to take it up a level. I know she's in a long term relationship with someone much more elegible than me, so my chances are zilch. This is good, as she gives me good practise. I know I'm getting a bit of a reputation, as I hear girly giggles in the office when I turn it on (which may not be good, admitedly).
Thing is, I would have worried once if the ladies at work knew I fancied them, now I kinda don't care. It's a bit of a game, to be honest. I'm not interested really in anyone I've chatted to. I'm playing a bit of a game and seeing how far I can go!
I even offered a ride on the back of my bike to a hot stranger waiting at the bus stop. This didn't go as well as I would have liked, as I was on the bike, leathered up, with a face mask on. Probably freaked her out. Whoops. very little response from her. This is something I never would have done before, so it needs a little practise. But I think it's going to be something I'll do again (when I get a gps!)
Problems I have:
I don't find it easy to open a conversation unless there's a pretext. That pretext can be something simple (this week I have chatted up girls who had a santa hat, and one with a uni student jacket).
I find it difficult to go beyond the pretext with strangers.
With girls I know, I find it difficult to go beyond compliments. So I can probably seem like a bit of a loser who clearly fancies the target but can't make the next move.
So I'm no artist, and I haven't got to the point of probing for numbers. It's the first week, though, and I've spoken to more girls in five days than maybe the last five months. So it'll need practise. obviously!
Advice? ____________________ no regrets, no retreat, no apology.
I've made mistakes in the past, and I apologise for FUCK ALL. |

Why? It's perfectly innocuous mate. All done with smiles and mirth.
Edit: Christ, I think I see what you're getting out. When I say girls, I obviously mean adult women/ladies/females well into their 20's. For heaven sake. ____________________ no regrets, no retreat, no apology.

I think you try way too hard and are gonna come across as a loon who needs to have restraining orders against him. So top this shit and just act normal. |

Look, im not being defeatist or anything. But if it doesnt work out, which it might. Get yourself some KY and direct yourself to www.pornhub.com. Well I think it's great that a guy is trying to make his own destiny. I have a mate who is into this stuff. It can be terribly cheesy, but this guy does manage to pull some amazing women, despite being a bit of a twat. Obviously, most women think he is just sleazy, and he is to be fair, but it's amazing how far, persistence, confidence, being entertaining and cheeky can get someone if they keep trying.
Most of the time, to watch him in action really makes you cringe, but when it works, it's amazing. Some people can pull with no effort, but for those of us who aren't so blessed, a bit of persistance and painting by numbers techniques, seems like a good idea to me.
I'd quite like to get into that sort of thing, as I tend to take things a bit too seriously, always looking for a relationship.
I'd like to see how the original poster gets on.
I know most girls are going to take an instant dislike to the guy who tries to chat up every girl in the room, especially if he hasn't come to them first, but if you only ever try to chat up one girl, you might not talk to the one who might like you.
What girls dont like, is the clunky obviousness of the painting by numbers techniques, but the idea of these things, is as you get better, you become less obvious and start to pick up skills that some people have naturally. It forces you to practise. ____________________ colin1 is officially faster than god |

I know someome exactly like you, goes about things the way you do. Overall he thinks very highly of himself, thinks he's a stud etc.
Behind his back the women just laugh at him and know his game and take the piss out of him when he's not there. In fact one of them slapped him not so long ago which gave us all a big laugh.
To be honest he just comes across as sleazy and weird, and yes i have told him as much.
His success rate so far is zilch just like yours seems to be.
Can you not pull women just being yourself?
Shaun. |
Meh.
Don't really care if it comes across as sleazy. Maybe I'm a sleazy bloke, maybe not. It's all words to me. I know what I want, so I won't apologise for that, to no one.
At what point did I say I was not going to be myself? In fact, this whole pick up artist thing is ABOUT being myself AMPLIFIED - rather than constantly NOT being myself because of anxiety around girls I (used to tell myself) wouldn't be interested in me. Bullshit to that.
The females of the forum can bleat on all they want about it being sleazy (I appreciate you're a bloke) because females can never really understand what it's like, because you don't have to make ANY effort to pick blokes up. You just have to be in the same room as a bloke, and choose which one you want. So you can talk about "Predators", but chances are, you're going for the predators - whether you know it or not - you ain't picking up the shy bloke in the corner who's too scared to approach you. ____________________ no regrets, no retreat, no apology.

Steppen, I beg to differ on your point that women don't have to make any effort to pick up a bloke. It's not as easy as just walking into a room, clicking your fingers and having them all come running. And it's certainly not a case of just choosing one bloke and getting him. There are men that women see as being totally out of their reach so even though they might want him they won't go for him, just as men see some women as being out of their reach.
Plus every woman will react differently. Yes, there's no doubt that confidence is attractive. And yes, getting the confidence up in the first place might well require some practice, and I can appreciate that is what you're doing. It does sound a bit like you're hitting on everything with a pulse and ovaries though. Still, if that's what works for you then best of luck with that, and with avoiding the restraining orders |

Mate of mine got out of a 5 year relationship, now he just gets plastered and chats up EVERY woman he sees in pubs, clubs and the street.
He is a reasonably attractive bloke, particularly if I was comparing him to myself. He will ask every girl for a number, then phone them all up at the pub having saved their name and a distinguishing feature about them in his phone.
Success rate is pretty slim. He gets about 1 in 20 numbers when he asks, and of those probably meets up with about 1 in 5. But considering he could ask for 100 numbers a night, that's still 2 girls a week on average. Some aren't too good looking, some are quite nice.
Personally I couldn't deal with the massive rejection rate, but he's quite happy to do it, and has had a couple of threesomes with some disgusting sluts. If that's what you are after then go for it, then you can follow thewarpedone and post a thread about your STD check. ____________________ Current Bikes: Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 (2020)

From then on, I and the bicycle feelings deeper. |

Buy this book, job done. No, I am not kidding it tells you why certain things work.
Oh and there is nothing wrong with having a yearly STD check if you are being sexually active, in fact it is pretty damn responsible.
I have been the shy guy, the asexual bestfriend and eventually the urban predator so I have seen it from all sides. I will give you one piece of advice right here and now: Make them feel special, even after you have been dating them a while. ____________________ Kal...

You might be weird, you might not. Maybe there is a happy medium between 'the guy in the corner' and 'weird' that you still have to find.
I was always the guy in the corner when I was younger, even through university I could never get up the courage to approach many girls. The odd one or 2 I tried and got blown off (and not in that way! ). I'm reasonably good looking and without getting ahead of myself, looking back at past photo's of me etc I really was in good shape! I have many regrets about not trying harder. I just had zilch confidence. Getting drunk worked for me, I got over the shyness but then the next morning I'd just freeze up again!
Thing is, I'm happily married etc now but I still have regrets about the past and not pushing myself enough to have fun - I'd much rather have done what you are doing than stayed in the corner the whole time, so good luck to you!
P.S I met my wife after uni and after I'd built up courage by running out of the late shop I used to work in after her, she'd been in for fags etc. I'll never forget the look on her face when she thought she'd forgotten something and got asked out instead! ____________________ Previous: Aprilia Habana Retro 50cc (beauty), Yamaha SR125 (fell apart), Honda XR125 (nippy little commuter), Honda SLR650 (Geewhizz), Yamaha Diversion 900S (Smoooooth) written off courtesy of a stupid escaped horse.
