After a nice setup for my race scoot project, I've spotted some nice Nitrogen gas rear shocks with adjustable preload and rebound at $229, But they only come in black and yellow, And repainting is something I am not exactly brilliant at.

For the front, I had these in mind, But would be looking for an alternative as there isnt much information on these, Just a price tag of $230.

Anyone big on the scooter tuning scene who can advise?

Or buy a bike which is likely to handle in the first place.

Scooters aren't designed to handle well anyway. The wheels are too small and the unsprung weight is ruined by having the engine on the swinging arm.

I haven't got a chip on my shoulder about scooters, but they are designed for practicality, not speed or handling I'm afraid.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Then ask around for someone with an aerox, and chuck it around a corner, It's incredibly stable and composed if not a bit too soft on the rebound.
Admittadely the small wheels is a setback, and yes, Adding the whole engine and transmission to unsprung weight is a disadvantage, But the main attraction of it is to do as much as possible with the least cubes.
CVT transmission definately has a performance advantage with it's ability to stay constantly in the most efficient band of operation for the engine (So long as you actually bother to put a few hours of fine tuning in)

What series will you be racing in with it? Smile

Expect its actually for road use, so why throw money at a ped when you'd have a better bike if you put that money towards bike rather than throwing it away by trying to polish a turd? For the price of that suspension you could just buy a bike that is better than a ped. Laughing

Flagship for a scrap metal recycling business?

If you don't spend money on shit for your ped then your business idea won't have to wait as long. Smile

If you want a better bike the easiest and cheapest way to do that is to sell your ped and then buy something better.

My business is a scooter tuning business lol so I could do with a flagship to show what I'm capable of... I can already get a £4000 grant through the princes trust for the start up of my business =)

Presumably then, you only want to fits parts that are made by companies that you'll be a retailer for?

At the moment, Thats basically what I plan to do, As well as offer servicing and repairs for most small bikes (250cc and under)

I've got a small reputation in my area for my knowledge and I'm quite often asked for help with sourcing and fitment of performance parts

I guess there must be a scooter tuning scene, but on this forum, scooter owners are treated with derision, as this is a big bike forum.

I still have fond memories of my gilera 180 2 stroke, but I think there is only one other person on this forum who has a nice word to say about scooters.

I doubt anyone here has knowledge of tuning scooters.

Try a scooter forum.
