PostPosted: 15:37 - 11 Dec 2009    Post subject: UPDATE - can anyone identify this scoot from the reg. no? Reply with quote

hi all,
following on from my previous post, im still trying to identify a scoot for my other half.
its cheap & chinese & has an unknown fault & friendly local mechanic doesnt want to spend ANY time looking at it, even as far as removing panels etc.
so all we know is it isnt sparking. all he did was change the plug, looked at the ht lead & gave up, thinking it could be the generator or the CDI or numerous other things that hes not interested in finding out, he just wants shot of it.
(i know i know : i should walk away, but its VERY cheap & from the brief description - ie its green, my missus wants it.lol)
i havnt even seen it, just going by the reputation of my local mechanic. (who knows his stuff hence why he wants shot of the scoot, it came as part of job lot, he doesnt normaly deal in this sort of thing- came with a nice vfr400 & zxr600 amongst others)
so out there can anyone tell me the model number, if i can give them the reg?
she wants to see a pic before going any further.
i know it will probably be a generic pic but, hey, it will keep her quiet.
i have been on the makers website + theres 19 models listed! (& thats just the 125's!)
cheers,
GAZ
just pm me for the reg no.
is it safe to post the number plate in here?

Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit...

Just followed the link above and thought oh I'll just stick my bike reg in and see it come up. It said no insurance!? Shocked
So I put my car reg in and it shows as insured no prob's. this is weird. So I check my insurance online through Ebike and turns out it ran out last month! WTF!! Shocked Confused

Ebike have always previously sent me renewal stuff near the time all my previous covers with them were coming to an end so what the hell happened here I don't know!

Well thank fuck, thanks ms51ves3 for providing the link. Although I wasn't informed by Ebike I know it's entirely my fault for not keeping a check on it anyway as I should have done. Have just now renewed it for another year from now as I need to get home from work!! Shocked .

At least it only cost £134 fully comp! Laughing

PM me the reg mate and i can try. Alternatively, usually if you put the reg no. in ebay as though you were selling it, it usually comes up with the details. Worth a shot Thumbs Up

Instead of a green non-running Chinese scoot, why don't you look for a green running Vespa for the missus. Ebay has them starting from £185. All shades of green, from pistachio to BRG.

Put your reg number into the AA's checker. It says that you have to pay but it tells you the make and model for free.

clicky

It works for me.

So, that's how much you care about your missus? You'll get her a dirt cheap Chinese scoot that even your friendly local mechanic won't want to touch. It's probably a death trap.

Well just take it off the dealers hands as it is.

If you she can get it running. If she can bonus, If not you have proved the point.....

Better off to spend money on a known working modle than a model, than one that does not....

I already have her a perfectly good rg125 gamma.
built from the ground up, by me.
its passed its mot with a few approving nods from the guys at the garage.
will she ride it?
will she fuck!
might be because its a 2 stroke, because she doesnt like changing gear.( Rolling Eyes )
her reply was to "get me a twist & go"
bollocks i said, learn to ride the fecking thing.
then she says, if i get her a her a cheap scoot, it will improve her confidence (its nearly six months since she done her cbt)
then when confident enough she will either go back to the gamma or sell it for a 4 stroke (oh the shame)
i value her life more than mine, but my mechanic doesnt work on scoots never mind chinese ones. (it came as part of a job lot , remember?)
he offered it to me, as its not needing much done & he reckons its perfectly safe. (after she said to him "not got any scoots", which is when i wanted the ground to open up-seeing as most of the business i bring him is stuff i cant do myself, welding, sending off cylinders to be repaired etc)
his original plan was to punt it on to someone else who deals in chinese stuff who could either sort it or strip it for parts. (seemingly its near perfect looking, just not sparking)
I would obviously check it out 1st b efore i let her out on the road, but tbh, i can see it being a shopping trolley or something to practice round sainsburys car park, until shes ready for a geared bike, lol
cheers,
GAZ
