Why is it sampled in so many songs?

I swear it must be like the most sampled film of all time or something?

Is it simply due to the fact that all the well-know good abusive phrases are all contained in one film?

I don't imagine a lot of people appreciate that Full Metal Jacket is simply a rehash of a film called "the boys in company C" from ten years previous, just with added Kubrick.

To be honest, FMJ didn't really live up to expectations having watched every other significant vietnam film before I got round to seeing it, it has its charm, and I love the Mickey Mouse March ending, but it really is overhyped.

As evidenced by people quoting it with lines that were from a different film entirely.
