hi ive just done a rebuild on a ts50 that was sitting in a garden for 2 years. ive cleaned the carb twice and replaced the niddle and slider. and 100% its not the jets blocked. ive tryed playing with the mix but theres 2 and i cant find a diagram for wat 2 they are but as soon as i evan 1/4 turn any of them the bike wont start so ive now left them. the bike will start first time but go mad with revs and i have to quickly switch it off. ive tryed everything and ive rebilt alot of 80's dt's but and stumped with this ts carb any help would be grate. im lost for ideas now. ......????????????

Throttle linkage? It's probably just the cable not adjusted properly Razz

ms51ves3: why does it need 500 miles? Are you teaching it how to be a piston?

TS50, im your man Very Happy

Normally when you get dodgy idle/revving it means theres an air leak which on ts50's is bugger Laughing

I would remove the carb and clean/replace the gaskets ( what everone you prefer )

Then refit using silocone to give a good air tight seal from carb to barrel the a small bit on the air intake side and see if that helps.

If not PM me and ill help you out more.

EDIT : just seen youve changed your needle and slide at what position did you set the needle ?

first port of call i would make would be to check you have put the needle in the correct notch (providing bike is standard, then I'd check you hadn't put the slide in backwards, if thats what you've done it will be a total beggar to start, and when you do it will be stuck at full throttle. I'd then check for air leaks at the carb, if none of these things fix your problem I'd look at the left hand (generator) side crank seal, if it's corroded after being sat it will be drawing air in there.

thanks for your replys its not a air leak or the crank seal and its not the throttle cable. as for the needle ive tryed setting it at each point and it aint made any difference so ive left it in the middle. ive rebuild more than 250 bikes now so all the normal checks have been done, but ive never had a bike do this to me before and sorry but i had to laugh. putting slider in backwards lol i might of done that when i was 13 once lol

sorted now thanks everyone. well almost sorted lol. after looking at a bent new needle today i see 1 of the mix screws was abit to long so fought maybe the person who had it b4 me got them round the wrong way. and now the revs are ok. but cant get it to idle at mo but i think it could now be a air leak as only happens at low revs. so abit of a frashing and abit of gasket seal will soon tell me. thanks for all ur advice people....

[pedant]Great scot! My head hurts, so......little........punctuation, spelling atrocious.[/pedant]

Struggled to read all the way through that. I'm calling another tit50 account. Conveniently a lot of struggling ts owners around recently!
