No idea why you've post this here as 95% of the off roaders on this site ride legally and considerately!!!!!!!!

Last week I was practically on a road ride as the rambler crew has had almost all the bloody lanes TRO'ed and as I'm relatively law abiding we had to skip the lane and go onto the next one just to find that TRO'ed as well!!!!!

There will always be "illegal hooligans" in every sport/activity etc, but as always ruining it for the majority who ride considerately just because of a few.

I'm going to take up Extreme Rambling and see how you fuckers like it!!!!! Bit like Extreme Ironing but not quite as cool.

And I do hope that by "any means" you don't mean physical violence/traps etc as you could kill someone Thumbs Down

There are legal tracks around the country .

thats no excuse for riding illegally in public woods and country parks

Actually, I'd expect it's more like 99% who ride legally, with the 1% who don't not admitting it or staying long.

I'd say it's the attitude that people doing something illegal IS GOING TO affect those doing it legally that's the issue. It's taken as read that this is what happens, when it should have no bearing.

Not many that people can just 'ride around' on, without doing motocross properly seriously. I doubt you've got problems with serious motocross riders.
Even enduro tracks are few and very far between. I have to travel for over two hours in a van to get to an enduro practice track from where I am; and not aware there's many more decent ones in the UK at all.
Still, it doesn't cater for people that want to have 'a bit of fun'.

That rather sounds like you are threatening violence against them. If so that threat is a criminal act.

All the best

As said by Sparks (here, here) the off-road bike riders on this forum and many others are considerate law abiding riders and also many are members of the TRF. We also have other hobbies like mountain biking and cross country running that means we too enjoy these types of places from another perspective and are not mindless one trick ponies.

I too hope that the woods are returned to there intended use in the same way as the woods near me have been - the National Trust have relocated the footpath to the farmer's field and returned the woodland to the squirrels, so that no-one (human) can use it! Apparently the rare fungii take priority!

Bravo - I sincerely hope that happens to you, so then you will understand what it's like to lose something that you've always enjoyed legally and are now denied. I also trust that when you cycle and drive that you always abide by speed limits and never break the law, you oh so perfect person. Tackle the problem the law abiding way or see the strong arm of the law from the wrong side and deserve it. Middle Finger

I presume your joining and this was put up to get a reaction (perhaps even a current member trolling for sh1ts and giggles?!?) ... sadly, it will be ineffective as to be fair, none of us care you want shot of these people ....

... just the oppose in fact ... I think I speak for most when I say, get the illegally used minimotos, pitbikes, mx bikes, illegal enduro bikes and crush them all ASAP and shoot the owners in the head!! Middle Finger

It is hard enough keeping legal tracks and byways open as it is - have no mercy on these people and do it quickly before they close more lanes!!! Crying or Very sad

Am i the only one that couldnt stop laughing when i read that?

Direct action? whats that going to be then... a strongly worded email to your local MP or an online petition? Maybe you'll go to the woods with a banner or something?

Your rant on a website about an area that about 99.95% of us have never even heard of wont do anything except make you look like a complete tool.

Hmmm Thinking
Odd little original post.
there's this site that lists 21 woods in the Sheffield area with 14 in Barnsley & Rotherham.
To quote the site

However, google search found a Sheffield Woods condo in the Palm Beach community of Wellington. Could that be it? Confused

Still, OP got a response.

Having ridden trail bikes for some time, I have begun to think of this a little differently.

The police and community are useless at educating the narrow minded and aggressive thugs that go by the name of The Ramblers Association.
Despite the Ramblers Association having a background in the 1960's of direct action against the oppression of the landowners/government and fighting for the right to ramble - they continue to force through closures of byways and dispute rights of way. (can you see the irony kiddies?)
Not a single ride goes without some form of abuse or frantic waving of walking sticks, as we ride these legal roads on legal bikes.
The efforts (and they should be applauded) of the TRF, GLASS etc have been very ineffective. This is shown by the massive closures of lanes over the past 10 years (NERC etc). I can find the statistics somewhere, but its something like 95% of the lanes have closed or have TRO applied - with some counties such as Sussex being at almost zero lanes left.
This ignores that fact that many lanes left open are being levelled and filled (so they are effectively a tarmac road), as the local councils cannot afford or risk the legal actions bought by members of the Ramblers Association when one of the little delicates sprains an ankle on a slippery or rocky surface.

So the answer?
Give up, let them close the lanes.
Drive it underground.
Encourage illegal bikes.
Embrace it - think about it.
No longer will you have to buy a fully road legal bike - just buy some cheap ex motocross bike or one with no mot.
No longer will you be restricted to the few remaining lanes - just ride where you want.
Find the end of the lane blocked by some PCSO in a land-rover ? - simple, just turn around and ride away across the countryside.
Or, dump the bike and buy a new one (remember they are cheap now).

And best of all, you wont have to continue smiling nicely and being polite (as currently promoted by the TRF for fear of making the situation worse) as some bobble hatted cretin lectures you on the law and safety.

Who is with me ? Lets set up our own version of the TRF, but aimed at saying "I give up - Lets ride where we want".
I will need a web developer, a legal mind, and someone good with political manoeuvering.
Oh! and I suspect a heavy might be useful - but I have that covered with Hetzer.

WTF is a chavver ... a chav who owns a court suit .. ffs .. Thumbs Down

Do you walk her on railway lines? you idiot.

FYI a chavver (or chavra if you are from the north) is the original name for chav - coming from the Romani for a rough boy or aggresive child.

However in your case I think the modern description from Urban Dictionary is more apt:
' a person (usually of pikey/chavish descent, or other sub-human piece of sh$t) highly skilled in the art of cleansing the rectal cavities of passing strangers. wears 'bling bling' and drives a shagged out 'rood boi' nova or similar cheap/easy to steal car. '
