Sorry for the quickfire questions guys but these are things I'm trying to sort while posting Sad

Bikes a DT btw

Started bike rode , it , wont stay on without the choke on . What's up with that ?

When I put the stand down the engine cuts out , is it meant to do that ? I know the switch is meant to cut out top let you know the stands down but didn't realise it just didn't allow the engine to start with the stand down at all .

My lights flicker with the engine , as in go dull then bright when i pull the throttle , whats that all about ?

Lastly my horn , worked the whole time upstairs now its down it wont wonk . Yamaha suggested tap it but that 's not working , do they just go like that ? Will another from another bike work for now ?

Oh yeah my front end shakes a lot when turning very slow at low throttle , is that my head bearings that need adjusting ? When I put my yoke on Yamaha did say make sure i get the head bearing adjusted .

Help lol

Check your idle screw on carb...also let the bike warm up before doing so

Is it out of gear? If so im lost, but it wont let you be in gear, even with clutch in and have the stand down.

Thats fine, even mine does that, when the bike is being revved its putting out a bit more juice!

Lastly my horn , worked the whole time upstairs now its down it wont wonk . Yamaha suggested tap it but that 's not working , do they just go like that ? Will another from another bike work for now ?

Its 2 wires usually to a horn, so you could use another one, basically has to be a long continuous note

Oh yeah my front end shakes a lot when turning very slow at low throttle , is that my head bearings that need adjusting ? When I put my yoke on Yamaha did say make sure i get the head bearing adjusted .

Ive got no idea about head bearings, but i was under the impression you replace them if they get worn, also might want to check front wheel bearings?

Help lol

HTH

Thumbs Up

I'm sure when I watched the video of your DT it was running on the side stand. If I remember correctly then you must be putting the side stand down when in gear.

How's your battery? If the battery is dead the horn will probably not work. When I had a duff battery on my TZR, pressing the horn button just made the rev counter drop to zero.

Thanks man yeah bike was in neutral when I tried to put the stand up and it cutout every time Confused . I know the switch is there as a backup but didn't realise you couldn't have the stand down and bike on , very inconvenient .

The bearing in the head and wheels are brand new never used mate sorry forgot to say . The whole bike recently had an overhaul and Yamaha had to attach my yokes for me . When they did they advised that the head bearings may need adjusting . Under speed the handling's fine but when you slow down to a snails pace , the front end vibrates like hell , so I'm assuming it may be the bearing that needs adjusting .

Wow really about the lights ? Mine flicker like mad and go in tune with the throttle , its really bad Confused Confused Laughing

Seem to have sorted everything but the horn now , just wont sound at all . Stripped back all the wires and theres no splits or anything . Connectors seem fine and even took apart the LH switch to check all terminals .

Friend of mine put his horn on and still no sound . Very weird , one minute it works next it just stops Sad

Anyone know what the laws are regarding getting a bike to a MOt station ? Can I ride there with no horn ? Plan is to ask Yamaha to fix it before MOT

You can ride to and from a pre-booked mot. If the vehicle has dangerous defects you could be nicked. Must have insurance.
Not sure what the position is with road tax.

Hope it goes ok
Cheers

As you need an M.O.T certificate to get the road tax, you don't need it to travel to your pre-booked M.O.T.

Have you tired the horn with the engine running? I dare say the battery is abit tired and needs a good charge all bikes aren't brilliant in the winter with the battery and small bikes are terrible for it. My old RXS would blink the indis faster the highier it was reving. Laughing
