Stacked my GS last night and cannot find a replacement clutch cover.

Could I weld some metal over this whole as a temporary measure?

It's a long shot, but worth exploring. Thinking

take the case off, make a patch out of plastic and araldite it on. Or use plastic metal as glue.

The patch can be smoothed over with filler once on and painted silver to make it pretty. Assuming you can be bothered that is lol.

use petro patch or plastic metal, and some fine cloth and you can repair carburettor float bowls in this way, also.

true but taking a wild guess, Bishbash doesnt have a welder to hand and this will get him out of a bind if he needs to use the bike quickly and more importantly very cheaply.

He can get it repaired permanently later, or get another case at his leisure.

Take the cover off and clean out the inside. There will be all sorts of bits of metal, road and crud in there which will not do oilways any good at all.

If you can get hold of it. JB weld (a metal repair epoxy) is superb for this kind of fix.

I did wonder that. He said it was a clutch cover but I agree that looks more like an alternator bolt through the hole.

If it's the alternator side (left of bike), I think the GS has a dry alternator. In which case a bit of gaffa tape will do the job as well as anything else.

I also wondered that but the looks to be the right side of the bike (judging by the frame) which is the clutch side but the casing doesn;t look right.

What do you think

Well, it is the right hand side of the bike, clutch side, I managed to bodge it last night for now, which got it home, there I can do further repairs to it.

Managed to Araldite a metal plate to it last night and it works fine, no leaks or anything. Looks rather messy though, hey ho!

Very Happy

EDIT:

This is the exact copy of my bike, the round bit on the casing(with Suzuki on it), is the part that has worn through. I can just replace that part;

No oil actually comes out of that when its running anyway. Your only bother is stopping shit getting in. A cork would do the job.

the one on the bike is missing the suzuki badge that covers the hole...nothing comes out there as its where the ignition pickup is.
