Ride Report: Surrey Allstars Run - Sunday 13th December.
Bocketts @ 9.30am.
Riders: MikeJ, Joe, Tatters, Silky, Adamski, Blue.
Weather: Light Showers - cold.

Due to weather we met at the more reasonable time of 9.30am.
Good turn out of the usual suspects, plus excellent effort made by Blue and MikeJ travelling up from the coast.

First section was plenty of mud, some good sized puddles and then the dreaded flint lane ... luckily we managed to convince the others to stop for a smoke.

Then onto the Sand Gallops.
This excellent lane yet again cemented its reputation as the best in Surrey ... good fun sandy bits ... some surprisingly puddles ... and plenty of twists and turns.
It was up this lane that I decided to try out my new 'Bike Camera' set-up.
Unfortunately the results we spoilt due to: a) me riding too far behind ... b) mike roosting the lens at the start .. and c) my addition fo some cheesy music.
However, a poorly edited version of the sand gallops lane can be found here:

As usual at the end of the Gallops we stop for a drink and a smoke.
Then its time to head off for the rest of the ride ... off we set with bushy tails and wide eyes ... looking forward to more mid and fun .. and ... Tatters gets a puncture. Sad

No problem ... the use of a nearby stones as a bike lift .. and with Joes legendary project management skills .. the rear tube is changed in quick time and we are off for the rest of the ride.

Joe identifies the root cause of the problem and points:

Stone bike stand and Joe supervising again:

Tatters changes tube - note the clean working environment and careful placement of important nuts and bolts Rolling Eyes

Wheel goes back on and off we go:

Rest of the ride was more of the same.
Beelzebubs puddle .. in the past an obstacle of fear ... has become simply another puddle. But it was interesting to see some other riders coming the other way and having trouble Smile
The new chalk hill took a few by surprise and was particularly slippery.
Then we hit the end of the ride at Newlands ... much to the disgust of Blue who wanted to carry on.
So it was agreed to head back to the vans via the first part of the ride again.

Thumbs Up A short but thoroughly enjoyable ride Thumbs Up

Equipment report:
Army GoreTex socks - work a treat
Army GoreTex over trousers - work a treat
Returned home bone dry for first time in 2 years. Thumbs Up
Video camera worked fine ... just need to learn how to use it asnd edit videos now Confused
