But i took it anyways.

Yesterday i asked on Freecycle for a fishtank larger than 3ft cos my fish need more space for a 40" telly and a new 3-piece suite they want.

Got an email offering a tank thats about 5ft
Picked it up today, fkin 6footer it is Shocked fkin huuuuuuuuuuuuuge it is. me n legsy struggled getting it in the land rover.

Now my tank at the moment is a 55litre freshwater one. I know for a fact the filer will not be able to handle the amount of volume in the larger tank.

The new one has one section on the right side, split in two, for filtration i assume. I am confuzzled as to get an internal or an external filtration system. Cost is an issue but all help and recommendations welcome.

Ill get some pics of it 2moz as its in the garage cos it stinks lol

Cheers

What kind of fish are you looking to keep?

At that size an external would be better something like Eheim, FX5's etc

Have fun stocking your tank!

Freshwater fish only, purely cos im lazy
orandas, plecs, loaches etc

got a couple of orandas at the moment witha 2 common loaches, a hill stream loach and 9 white clouds that i have called "Delta Squad"

All of them will be going in there. Need to build a base for it, but all thats gonna happen after my flat is refurb'd.

To be honest im finding it a bit daunting, a tank of that size lol.

Shame you don't live near us, you could have the massive Plec that is destroying our tank on a daily basis. We inherited the tank and the Plec, who is 18" long in a 39" tank! He's 17 years old though, so I kind of hope he buys the farm soon, so we can get some pretty plants and smaller fish in there Shocked

Cheers

Freshwater you may be ok with an internal filter. I'm setting up my 20 gallon (2ft long Embarassed ) and I'm using an external as it leaves more space in the tank, looks tidier and gives better filtration sometimes allowing better/more fish Razz Thumbs Up

Our tank is a 55 gallon tank, give or take and we have one of these. It is external and valved, it is also completely silent. One of the bigger ones should cope with your tank size or one of the newer models.

Cheers

I have one of these:

Easy to maintain, clean etc. I'd recommend getting an external one if you can.

I have a fluval 204, I think my tank is around 3 foot long. A tank of your dimensions I would think you would require an external filter.

They look neater as well.

Guesstimated the size to be 2ft x 2ft x 5ft, translates into about 570 litres which in turn is near on 630kg including te tank.

Just check with the landlord about the weight, and if this 1st floor flat can handle it cos i know the people below dont want a fish tank.

He said its all good. Very Happy

As for filtration, what are the 2 sections on the right for?

Top down view, mspaint skillz baby FUK YEAH!!!!

The end tanks look like breeding tanks, if you leave fish that have live fry in with other fish then the fry don't last very long.

Cheers
