Was driving on the M50 (Dublins ringroad motorway) and came to a toll bridge. Now im used to just driving through without paying cos theres usually a sign saying bikes go thru for free(makes sense). Anyway I come to the barrier and I presume the guy will just wave me thru. But he says to me, "60 euro please". :o Im like WHAT?? By this stage theres about a million cars behind me looking on impatiently. Mad So I say to the guy ill pull over and get my wallet out. I do so and embarresingly walk over to the booth and pay him. Embarassed

Someone tell me whats the logic in bikes paying tolls? They reduce traffic congestion for a start but the main problem I think is, a rider has to stop, take off his/her gloves, rustle through their pockets for the right change, then after paying the wanker has to put their gloves back on. That takes much longer than a car driver and so causes a back log of traffic.

I dont know it just pissed me off cos I looked like a tit in front of all the cars. Dont think ill take that route again in a hurry.

Well, next time, go that route, but stop in front of the cars and spend as long as possible taking gloves off, finding your change etc. If a few bikers do that they'll soon get pissed off and change it back.

I presume you mean the eastlink toll bridge.
For a start, you've always had to pay when driving a motorcycle across the eastlink, cos its easier than going all the way thru town.
Secondly, its really the only toll bridge there is, all the other toll booths are mainly on the quays and kinda meant for comercial traffic, and the fact that they're on normal roads means they have to have a route for cyclists to go thru , (usually on the far left barrier theres a large gap) and so they just let bikers thru there.

The eastlink is on a motorway tho, no cyclists allowed, and as long as you're prepared, just jam the money in your gloves or something, pay it and pull in up the road and put gloves on if neccessary.
It may be fairly annoying, but the other alternative is rush hour traffic.

Its 60 cents kornel, everyone seems to just call the stupid bloody things euro's, stupid stupid currency Razz

Yep meant 60 cent, still trying to get used to it!

Air dont you mean the Eastlink (Ringsend) has the thru way for cyclists and the Westlink (On the M50) dosent??

Suppose you could pull over to put your gloves on but theres no hard shoulder. When your travelling south past the toll, the bridge begins and theres sweet f all room to pull in. Some bitch in a mini-van hit my mirror yesterday when I pulled over in 2 by 5 foot space to put my gloves back on. Its bloody dangerous!!

If you're gonna get hit or anything like that.... don't bother stopping and crap.
Just put the bike in neutral beside the booth and take your time.
Give any of the scum that complain the finger, with any luck the ppl that run the bridge will soon realise that bikers are causing huge tailbacks and we won't have to pay anymore.

Anyone approaches you, you have a large blunt object on your head, use it.
