I had to pour water over my lock this morning to start it, then pour more water over it to turn the ignition off! in the space of 12miles the lock froze lol

Tried to stall the bike but the backwheel just span on the ice, interesting giving it power on pure ice. Got here safe and sound though

I went to get the Enfield out of the lockup yesterday to put some corrosion inhibitor on it and to give the engine a run.

Didn't get far, must have been some damp in the brakes when I last put it away, the front drum was totally frozen solid, couldn't move it.

In dem olde days, we just piss on the lock, worked a treat, then used a light grease or oil, WD40 washes the grease away, ok short term but in the long term get some lube in there.

Went out on the MZ this morning, dropped it twice, had a lot of fun.

It wouldn't even think about moving without rope round the rear tyre

It was worth it just for the astounded looks on pedestrians faces as I rode past Laughing

I had one freeze once, bent the bloody key. I had to phone my brother to come down on his push bike with a hammer to knock the key back in to shape so I could start the bike to get it home. Embarassed

It might be an idea to get Roxy running (My RXS) and stick some noblies on it for snowy fun, fuck kicking her over on ice though Laughing

Had some fun on my RD125 many years ago. The petrol cap froze and I had no luck heating up my key to defrost it... Then the petrol station closed meaning I had to ride back home on fumes... Turned the engine off going down hills just to save petrol but ran out about one and a half miles from home, luckily that last section was mostly downhill and there was no traffic about so I came to a stop about 300 yards from the gate. Pushed it home and nicked the fuel for the lawnmower the next day.

Hmm, water + sub-zero temperatures.

Seriously what did you think was going to happen...? Laughing Wink

I had to leave my bike at a mate's on Saturday as I was one over the eight. Didn't go back for it yesterday as I was a bit too hungover then noticed that it had started to snow just as I was going to bed (we don't get a lot of snow in Bristol).

I finally went to collect it tonight and I had to ride it out of the acces road round the back of his house; I basically rode with two feet down on sheet ice at about 5mph for a mile until I hit a main road where I chanced a few more beans.

I honestly felt like Bambi during that first mile!

An interesting ride, but not one I think I'll be repeating...

Had this problem before after College, I did a quite nasty thing and spat in the lock due to lack of being able to boil a kettle etc etc, wiggled the key about a bit and click, working lock. Thumbs Up.
