Seems this is a big deal to many on here and almost a law that must be abided by to be worthy of riding a motorcycle (and more recently implied) insisted on to be accepted and welcomed on bike forums such as BCF.

Ive got a lot to say about the topic (as usual..lol),and no doubt i`ll incur more wrath hostility and bad karma from the "naysayers" who roam these lands.....but it wont be anything i`m not already used to dealing with on here so fire away Razz .

So discuss.
What the fuck is it all about?why do you all take it so seriously?its trivial bullshit folklore that was created back in the early days of the hells angels when they were pillaging our towns and raping our women ..lol Mr. Green Rolling Eyes
Times change....why haven`t you?

I try and stop (if possible) for bikes stopped by the side of the road.
I have stopped and helped out people in cars, but you'd not get anywhere if you stopped for everyone, so it's an easy way to choose.

I tend to give other riders a nod too, though don't angry if I don't get one back. Just a general friendly gesture, as you do get with owners of some specific rarer cars etc.

You stick with people you know and share your interests.

People who drive minis always talk to each other,

It is the same for sports teams too. If I was to see a Saracens fan (My rugby team) I was say hello or whatever. When people make a consciencious choice to follow or do a certain thing it unites them.

If sure there is a group of wankers you can join if you feel left out.

You could have done that one post ago, you say you aren 't going to read this but I garantee you will, why are you here? If you don't like bikes or bikers jog on.

I haven't got a clue what you are on about,i never mixed with other bikers and generally most bikers would frown upon me for overtaking them at mach 10,why own something so fast and do 40 everywhere.

I nod at other rides when out in the country. Tried doing it in London but no one seems to nod back.

I would stop and try and help someone who has broken down, but I am mechanically challenged so wouldn't be able to help, so no point getting someone's hopes up.

Nice get a nod back sometimes.

To be honest I don't think riding a bike makes you anymore in a club than driving a car, but because of our forefathers being in these bike clubs (I use the term clubs loosely) in the 60's and 70's they had a solidarity within their club and were viewed as bad news in their day, this tradition has carried on to a degree within the biking community and to be honest it is nice to get that warm fuzzy feeling you get from being one of the gang Wink

Plenty of car "groups" will wave at each other, even when they don't know each other. Pretty much anything with an enthusiasts following (used to happen a lot with Alfas, although not these days when they are common).

As to stopping, yes I will stop for a bike if I can. You might not think there is anything you can do, but the fix could be something simple (like syphoning a bit of petrol out into their bike). Will also often stop for cars if they look like they are really stuck.

All the best

Keith

I think bikers have a shared understanding of how dangerous other people are, or how bad conditions can be. This puts your into a group if you like it or not. On my way home from work in the slush I had quite a few chats with other bikers who were in the same scary situation. Birds of a feather and all that!!

There is less and less 'solidarity' between bikers now. When I first got on the road in the mid-80s, things were quite a bit different. It's almost like a class thing now.

As the range and diversity of bikes has grown, so the solidarity has diminished, IMHO.

I don't get why there are so many threads on this specific topic.

It's what we do, live with it.

on the CG, i noticed that everone would nod or give me a wave.

Maybe people round here are more friendly, it's more of a surprise if you see another biker because there isn't really many about here....

max flower, do you have a problem with people nodding at you?

I think your problems come down to you being a fair bit of a wanker.

You seem to or at least your online persona seems to lack compassion for humans and animals and as a result no one likes you much. You're incredibly self righteous in the face of opposition whether you're right or wrong and that coming from me is a shocking statement.

You think you can make a bit of money on the side as a courier, you think you can make a bit of money on the side breeding dogs. You appear to be a chancer that has no regard for others

Human decency is a much under rated thing, try it sometime.
